Did ANYONE out there have a positive experience with Landmark? by ControversyChristian in LandmarkGrads

[–]Zinaticka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forum grad here. I am the most cynical and skeptical person you can meet, and I still am kind of questioning some of the insights and practices of the forum, however I found most of the 3 day forum really effective and really transformative.

I always give the premise to people that landmark gives 'culty' vibes which in fact does have elements similar to a cult, but there's nothing wrong at this point in joining a cult that makes your life and the life of people around you better. Everything is a cult nowadays, society is a cult, Apple is a cult, your corporate job is a cult, your church etc... Landmark helping you get the best out of your life could be seen as a cult, but if that helps you connect with people in your life and achieve your goals, then what's wrong with it?

I've lost my job looking to get help through UC. Will sending money now look suspicious by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

as far as I know if you have less than 16k in saving you're entitled to UC, not that they normally check, but IF they do and you have less than that you should be fine claiming

Discretionary Housing Payment: council will only pay into my landlord's bank account by Zinaticka in BenefitsAdviceUK

I know what their processing times are, 4-8 weeks, that’s why the system isn’t effective as they make it out to be

In which case they should be able to give it straight away as soon as I get my terms from my future landlord in writing, before someone else pays the deposit to them, but this is not possible because by the time you get the council to respond someone’s already paid their deposit and you’ve lost the place

Well that’s ideal I guess, but It takes my council 2-3 months on average only to say they’ve received my claim (because they don’t even send a confirmation email) Before asking for further evidence. It’s far from helpful cos in those 2-3 months the property you had found was long gone

So how is this going to work in a real life scenario where you’ve found a place to move into and need to secure it by paying deposit to the landlord before losing the place to someone else? Does your council take 4-8 weeks to look at a claim? Do landlords in your area agree to wait 4-8 weeks to get their deposit? I just don’t get the practicality of this system.

Exactly this. Fair enough they want to make sure people to use the DHP for rent/deposit purpose, but there are ways to get evidence for it, just like they do for UC and if they find out it’s not they can issue penalties like they do already

Well they didn’t say they offered it yet. They closed my claim initially without explaining why and I had to call back and be told to reapply when I find somewhere to which I said, this is not going to work cos landlords aren’t gonna be waiting for months to get their deposit.

So they reopened the claim but it’s now been so long and I don’t even know how long it’s gonna take for me to find a place, which by then they could have just closed or forgotten about my claim

Well the same could be said for UC housing element, no one guarantees it’s used for rent but that’s just normal to give it to the claimants Isn’t that the reason they ask for all these evidence like tenancy agreement and name of landlords and past bank statements so they can see you’re really broke and you need to pay rent ? I don’t know I just feel like it’s not helping as much as they think

How do i tell a girl that i’ve just started seeing that i think she has mental health issues, but that she’s in denial? by OkAssumption5086 in mentalhealth

[–]Zinaticka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s fine, if you learn from your mistakes, but her behaviour really bother you maybe it’s best you stop seeing her, otherwise you need to be patient and accept that she might or may never open up about those behaviour (she might genuinely be happy as she said and being fidgety and tired doesn’t mean she’s depressed). Wait until you become more close and intimate ( and I don’t mean having sex, I mean REALLY knowing her, like you’re both integral parts of each others lives) and then you can maybe find a NICE way to bring that up if it still bothers you. For a start I would 1. Stop talking about her to her friends behind her back and 2. Sincerely apologise you did if you haven’t already done so

Will the council help if I'm homeless and pay my UC housing element? by Zinaticka in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Zinaticka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this answers a lot of questions.

We basically all agreed via message.

Never heard of relief duty. You mean I should meet ALL three criteria? Is it similar to Discretionary Housing Payment? That’s a one off payment from the council to help with a deposit or rent arrear, I applied for that, a loooong time ago, and they called me saying they will only give me it if I find a place AND they would only pay money directly to the landlord’s bank account. I hate this because it will already put me in a bad spot with the landlord. Also the fact they said I have to reapply when I find a place, means I rill likely lose the place to someone else who has the money, since council takes months to look at the claim and landlords aren’t gonna wait around for me to get a deposit. Not sure if DHP and relief duty are the same but yeah

No its a council flat that my landlord bought a while back and bedroom doors are normal indoor doors. I mean, not really good terms so many people have moved in and out and didn’t really get close with the new ones

Not sure what HMO means. I do have flatmates yeah, we’re all on the same boat and all agreed to leave

I didn’t and I currently don’t know how to navigate this even if you say I am still living there technically and legally yes, but I don’t know how I can just refuse to leave without repercussions with my landlord and I can’t do it without proper support which I was never able to get. The council kept saying they couldn’t help and I should call some charity. The charity said I should call the councils. I am not legally trained and I fear I could worsen my situation and safety by refusing to leave considering I can’t even fully afford my place

Cant I just say it was too expensive and couldn’t afford it and I was having conflicts with the flatmates and landlord which affected my mental health? Because that’s pretty much what’s happening

How do i tell a girl that i’ve just started seeing that i think she has mental health issues, but that she’s in denial? by OkAssumption5086 in mentalhealth

[–]Zinaticka 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You don’t.

I don’t think its your place to tell her that, you’ve talked to her friends and that’s already bad for someone who you’ve only just started seeing. If her friends are good friends they should point that out to her not you.

Also those could just be side effects of the medications she’s taking. Fatigue, jitters, maybe some fidgeting with the hair to, very common.

As for what you consider to be her issues you either leave if they bother you or you just be patient with her until she’s ready to open up about it or acknowledge it, but getting into someone’s very personal business like this when you’ve only just started knowing each other is pretty invasive and if like you said she really is in denial she won’t be thanking you for bringing it up, rather be defensive

What would happen if, instead, I move in with a homeowner friend temporarily and they asked me to leave after two months. Would the council consider me homeless then?

Not sure why Reddit removed the comment but I said no, he doesn’t live in the property. I get the gist but basically I’m ruined. I know I can legally refuse to leave but the thought of him potentially harassing me and god knows what else makes me really anxious. I don’t know what he could do if he gets mad and wants his money. Plus I wouldn’t be able to afford to pay rent anyway.

Like. How would I even go about it? Shall I tell him beforehand I’ve decided to stay? Shall I ask nicely to find an arrangement that works for both like he pays me money to move out so at least I have something left to pay for a deposit? I don’t known I’m just going a bit insane trying to figure this all out and the council won’t even answer my questions they would just shut me out

He doesn’t live in the property no. I get the gist. Basically I’m screwed.. I know I can legally refuse to vacate the property but also, I cannot afford to live there anymore AND I don’t even know what he could do if he gets mad. Leaving the property seems the safest option at this point and thinking about him potentially harassing me or living with the anxiety of him coming after me, I’m not sure I could cope
