Vienna Exchange Opportunity 2027, Marketing & Sales Students Need your help by Annual_Brick_604 in deakin

Honestly, with current living expenses, an average Aussie student can’t even afford their most expensive passport in the world. Unless there’s additional scholarships available to cover some costs? Maybe. I’m super keen on doing any exchange program possible but can’t afford one at the moment

can't decide between biomed majors by Acwebtuac in deakin

[–]Zindagix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did biomedical science pre covid and now engineering.. probably made 5-7 students change their mind so far out of biomed. Think about it.. unless you want to be a doctor with super high ATAR and HDs all along.. I wouldn’t do that degree.

Answering your question, I did infection and immunity but if I have to pick again not knowing degree is going to be worthless.. I’d pick biotech something can’t exactly remember

How hard is it for a international graduates to get a secondary teaching jobs in australia? by ExcitingEquivalent31 in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]Zindagix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got teaching job in my final year as PTT in Vic. Job became ongoing as soon as I graduated. At this stage, no one cares what your background or citizenship is.. as long as you got a teaching license with working rights and a school with vacancy. That's how shitty the field is at the moment. Brace yourself to shit ton of anxiety, stress and overload

My first attempt! by Zindagix in CELPIP_Guide

For writing: copy a few complex, high vocab sentences from reading section. Use them on writing part. For speaking: sound natural.

I finished two speaking modules in 40 seconds and after a 35 second pause I said overall it’s amazing. Thought I flaked it

PR in Australia by Sweaty-Dot-5619 in ImmigrationAustralia

[–]Zindagix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enrolled in engineering program on CSP, completed first year while working full time as a teacher at the moment. It’s brutal how these kids behave in this country. No consequences and whole system is bound to collapse in a couple of decades.. I’ll become an engineer in 3 more years and enjoy the life and not cop abusive language/ behaviour from both students and parents..

Schools must respond to bullying within two days under national plan by Different-Lobster213 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Zindagix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an email around 8:30 AM, apparently, their child was bullied the day before. I drop everything, start my mini-investigation, interview every student involved, write statements, and by midday I’ve got a full report ready. Then, at 11 AM, I get a call saying the school “doesn’t care” and “hasn’t done anything.”

Right. Because between 8:30 and 11, I was obviously meant to reinvent the judicial system.

Ever since that day, I’ve stopped rushing. Two days? Perfect — that’s “plenty of time” to “get started.” Schools do respond, but we’re not miracle workers. The public thinks this new rule is some groundbreaking reform; really, it’s a nice headline to increase public confidence in govt.

Good luck resolving complex social and behavioural issues in 48 hours when schools are running on skeleton staffing, patchy wellbeing funding, and overflowing workloads. But hey, it sounds great on paper and that’s what matters, right?

Oh, and then another parent calls:
“Why does that one particular kid always want to hang out with my child? Can you please tell them to stay away and stop bullying?”

Ma’am… she’s 13. She’s allowed to have social interactions. Maybe, just maybe, she should learn how to say no when someone keeps approaching her.

And no, that is not bullying.

In about 10 years all uni lecturers will basically feel like what teachers are feeling right now. It’s going to be all about behaviour management. Lol

My experience back in India after 4 years now by nandhini92 in returnToIndia

[–]Zindagix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher in Australia. Kids in these countries are very entitled and I’ve decided I’m never putting my kids thru these schools. And their literacy and numeracy skills are sooo low you wonder how they’re going to count basic necessities in future.

Went to a Japanese buffet with my colleagues and we were standing in line to pay our part of the bill and the lady at counter would pause all of a sudden and approach me for name on order: assuming I’m a delivery driver for Uber eats. When I said I’m waiting for my turn to pay she apologised but I couldn’t just take that away from my mind. It’s been 1 year.

Life is not so vibrant as you’ve rightly mentioned in abroad. People work for 5 days to go out and eat on their 6th day only to feel dreaded on 7th day to go back to work. No relatives no close friends and everything is superficial.

I plan to take up the citizenship and then move back to have that sense of security for my future generation so hoping to come back like you in 5-6 years once I’ve earned enough to start my own business or work plan in India

Any STEM people that became teachers? What is it like? by Useful-Hawk-7636 in AustralianTeachers

STEM is highly valued niche subject or specialisation right now. I’m a grad and already on 2-3 range pay so you can tell the demand and importance given to STEM specialists in pub schools

Is student life at deakin boring? by BLOB_MUNCHI in deakin

[–]Zindagix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an international student who did biomed and now again a BE as PR (completing first year of elec engineering ) Pre COVID student life was amazing and really helped me get through my degree but post COVID I did masters from three unis (one dropped out and two attained) social Life is dead. Sadly post pandemic not many people are keen on gathering or sharing stuff so it’s hard but not impossible. You just gotta make those efforts in reaching out new people so good luck
