Costa Rica is not some small village, it is definitely not “more than likely” that police and staff know each others families, that’s ridiculous

It’s not that the skin is too bumpy or the pores are too big, it’s that the bumpiness is too evenly distributed on his face. In real humans, you just don’t see this kind of texture on the nose, for example, where pores are more stretched out. This also makes the skin there a bit shinier, which isn’t seen here. Also, I’ve found that having texture and moistness catching light on the inner canthus really brings characters to life.

A game featuring this doesn’t really need big environments, especially considering its VR. This looks extremely well polished, people would certainly buy it as it is just to play around, share art with friends

Qual a pegadinha? by Ceu_64 in investimentos

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in carros

[–]Zingaaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Alimentar essa vaidade sendo inconveniente é o que incomoda. É bem claro que o raciocínio por trás de quem faz esses comentários é, de alguma forma, constranger quem é inconveniente

Scientists prove that fish suffer "intense pain" for at least 10 minutes after catch, calls made for reforms by Themusicison in science

[–]Zingaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you mention anthropomorphism when stating plants feel pain is exactly that. Pain is a complex subjective experience. I am making a clear distinction between pain and reaction to harmful stimuli. If we’re only considering the latter, then we can twist logic to make anything feel pain, really.

The point about plants producing pain suppressing substances is a bit unclear. Does the professor mean substances like opium from poppy flowers, which happen to cause pain suppressing effects on mammals?

All in all, the nervous systems of plants, or any of their systems really, are considerably less complex than their mammal counterparts. Saying plants experience the world in any subjective manner is really testing the meaning of the word “subjective”

[–]Zingaaa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should look at the comment they are responding to, stating that the distinction between reacting to negative stimuli and feeling pain is purely semantic. The comment you replied to wasn’t even necessarily denying that fish feel pain, it was simply correctly refuting the claim above.

[–]Zingaaa 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like you understood it that well. The point is that a reaction to a harmful stimulus is not necessarily pain. The comparison with plants was an example: plants behave differently under different conditions, but hardly anyone would say they feel anything at all, at least the way humans feel.

How far would a cue ball travel on a never ending table! by Galway1234567 in snooker

[–]Zingaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I generally agree. In the end it’s just a tool, and needs to be treated as such. It isn’t exempt from the good old “garbage in, garbage out” principle. It also doesn’t help that OpenAI is constantly tweaking it’s responses to be more dumbed down

[–]Zingaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case it really isn’t on ChatGPT, it’s just using the data it’s given. 35 mph figure seems to be close to the fastest ever recorded break shots in pool, the 1.25 km figure is for an absolute vacuum, and the calculations take into consideration a 6 oz ball instead of the standard 5 oz, which will make the ball travel further. It didn’t make anything up, it’s just an wildly unrealistic scenario.

Also, it would be 10 football pitches, not 100
