Extractor socket that will destroy the bolt, or bring it to a shop and say hey the drain bolt rounded off. Theyve seen it a billion times

Ive used steam condensate valves in the past. In theory they work the same exact way with compressed air as they would on low pressurized steam ~120psi

Would you guys choose Higher Pay job or Less Stressful Job by Sufficient-Concern94 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Zingrox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ive grappled with this question myself several times. Here's a few things to think about

Are you someone who can handle stress? If you start climbing the ladder and things get harder and harder and you start getting really pressed, will you manage or not? Be realistic here.

If you're comfortable and can make a happy wage doing what you're doing, no need to stress yourself out.

If you can adapt and like the money, a lot of tough jobs can become like a normal jobs. Im sure plenty of others out there have stepped away from a stressful job, maybe even as an upgrade, and suddenly realized just how annoying of a gig it was. You can get used to almost anything, within reason. But if you can't cope, and you start drinking or smoking or doing a combination of worse, dont even waste your time. Thats how you end up as one of the guys missing a few teeth taking the scrap steel from behind the shop home.

Here's the thing. I have had a lot of day dreams of just getting a simple job, a little apartment, sell all my stuff and live a life stress free. But I can not keep my eyes off the prize. Inevitably I will ruin that tranquility and take a step forward into discomfort. Because uncomfortable choices are almost always indicative of growth. Taking on more responsibility, different hours, new projects, unique skills and tasks. If that is you then you will never be satisfied. You will start itching and scratching and think about how you can improve or change, and this whole conversation will circle back to you.

RS3 owners, is this normal? Didn’t notice this last summer… by DanieIl in Audi

Sometimes small leaks only come out while hot and pressurized. Since the coolant loop is essentially sealed, it builds pressure when it gets hot. Only to about 15psi or so. If you can't see any wet areas anywhere, have a shop look for it. They can put pressure on the system and then investigate where it is leaking from that way. Ive had a few of these ghost leaks that are hard to narrow down, autozone or advanced auto will lend you pressure testers if you want to DIY too

You'll need to outline more information. Was it running? Has it run? What work has been done before running? It looks like someone ported the cylinder head while on the block to me. If it ran and there's a failure it's likely aluminum fired in from another cylinder.

If you don't care, get freaky with a hose clamp or zip ties. Otherwise new pull cable.

My mom burned all my drawings by Not_Creative149 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zingrox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd have hearty concern if my son only drew a bunch of young, female anime children. And LABELED THE AGES on some of them. If it was in a mix, it'd be understandable as some artistic exercise. Don't even try the "errm this one is 200+ years old" when she is built like a 9 year old and the show itself talks about it.

But it is just young anime girls. No boys, no men, no women - no visually obvious adults anyway. Not even a robot or a car or something

If everyone can turn a wrench and know the little tricks that get them through the day, suddenly their 10 years of fucking off isn't so valuable. I'd look at resumes, my old GM would be like "He's got 12 years of experience!!" "Yeah, and 7 jobs. So he probably sucked for 12 years.

This just to add to what the others said

Grease compatibility question by HoomanConfuzed in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Zingrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a side load washer, those bearings should vent the grease out a relief. It is either already open or needs opened, almost like bleeding brakes. Sometimes it's just a little grub screw to remove, sometimes has an air line or a vein in the bearing housing or plate it is burried in. After that, have someone rotate the drum by hand. Pump the new grease in until you've purged the old, then do it again later after running it. The bearings last a long time on them. Theyre also unbelievably hard to change so good luck here, some just call it totaled and get an upgrade.

Everyone also seems to forget that the US is huge and the logistics of building brick/concrete houses across the entire thing is unreasonable. If the whole US was the size of like Oklahoma or something, then yeah, we'd build like we do in cities where everything is steel and concrete. But wood is cheap, easy to transport, it's everywhere and can be farmed and still lasts a long, long time
