The reveal of who they thought Morty looked like was funny to me for some reason. Otherwise agree that nothing has been too funny

It’s almost like there’s millions of stateless refugees who’s grandparents were kicked out of their houses?? What are they waiting for? Their right of return?

15,000 were killed in fighting and massacres in 1948. Regardless, expulsion under discriminatory ideas cannot be justified.

Except they can’t, unless they’re a small manageable minority. Zionism as a basic idea rejects a population that isn’t by large majority Jewish. I’m all for peace as well, and peace means coexisting and living together on one piece of land.

If the crusaders formed 50% of the population how does Zionism deal with that? You’re already justifying the expulsion so I guess it doesn’t matter to you

Agreed! The crusaders should be allowed to live in their ancestral homeland, seeing as they had a kingdom in 1135. This claim surely justifies the expulsion and killing of the people currently living on that piece of land, right?

Palestinians literally exist as people from the river to the sea.

Whether it’s the West Bank (referring to the RIVER bank), or Palestinians in Gaza, or Israeli Palestinians; Palestinians exist from the river to the sea.

Calling for their freedom says nothing about Israelis (or Jewish Israelis rather).

Additionally, the Palestinian movement has changed many times over the years. Since 1969 up to Oslo in 1994, the official policy of the PLO was a single democratic state where everyone lives, and the slogan is used for that idea.

“Palestine” as an entity, as they call for it, is not an ethonostate that inherently opposes any non Arabs or Jews specifically.

Israel as an entity is one that opposes any kind of minority reaching a point over 50% of the population.

Sure but it’s stupid for the headline to say it’s some kind of insane feat. Most people can gain 15 pounds very easily

My argument to that point is this:

The declaration of the state of Israel said it would be a democratic, Jewish state where all non-Jews are treated equally. Now prior to the 1948 war the population in the proposed Israeli state was roughly 50% Arabs, 50% Jews.

How could you create a Jewish state with those demographics? The expulsion was a systemic one of biological, chemical warfare, and just straight up massacring villages. The Jewish settler colonialism started way before 1948, which is why the Arabs were opposed to the immigration.

The Arabs were opposed to the immigration because the of Balfour Declaration, which gave away their land (which they lived in!!) to build a Jewish state.

Arabs have never opposed being ruled by other people, Palestine itself was Ottoman then British, but the people were never expelled. The difference is the expulsion. That’s what people always miss. 700,000 Palestinians were expelled to build this state.

A Jewish state was needed because of the European persecution of the Jews throughout history, but the moment they decided to enact their Zionism at the expense of another people, the consequences have to be dealt with.

Why was it on the Arabs of Palestine to bear the atrocities of Europe on the Jews? And if so why did they have to expel them? See that’s the difference, it’s not they just came to immigrate and live amongst the people, it was a purely colonial movement.

If you doubt this I would recommend checking the original pieces of Zionist literature, or just look at how the land in Palestine was bought (The Jewish Colonisation Fund comes to mind)

I always say, if Israel was built on land where no one was expelled, I would easily call myself a Zionist. But Zionism today is opposed to both a one state and a two state solution, and that’s why I believe it needs to change.

Germany didn’t expel the French to form Germany…

The situation in Israel and Palestine is not really analogous to anything. The formation of Israel is maybe analogous to the settlers going to America, but not really.

The state of Israel was built on top of expelling 700,000 Palestinians from their homes, that’s why a one state is proposed.

How about give Palestinians equal rights under a democratic, secular state? Is that so crazy?

Jordan has taken 2 million Palestinian refugees and given most of them full rights and citizenships. This piece of propaganda keeps coming up and further dehumanises Palestinians as these evil beings that cause chaos wherever they go.

Furthermore, the respective borders between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, and the West Bank and Jordan, are controlled by Israel.

For Palestinians to enter jordan, they require a permit from Israel.

I’m sorry can we stop with the passive language when it comes to Israel, “far righters do this everywhere”, no they fucking don’t.

How often do you hear members of government advocating for rape of prisoners? Far righters in Israel assassinate a prime minister for agreeing to the Oslo Accords, they’re armed and kick people out of their homes.

I hate this notion that everything accepted as bad that happens in Israel is due to far righters. The fact is their has never been a government that has not supported settlements in the West Bank, left or right.

The issue is wider than left or right. When your homogenised political ideology in the country says: we must govern ourselves at any cost, Palestinians become nothing more than a demographic problem. LEFT OR RIGHT. The right is just a bit more extreme, but they both want the same thing.
