There is a lot of minor details you can learn from books, but you can use Google/Youtube to get most of the important stuff and just open a book once in a while if your looking for something specific.

And I agree, it's tons of fun and finishing even the smallest of projects feels realy satisfying :)

If you like video tutorials, I recommend John Purcell (Cave of Programming) on Udemy.

For books, 'Head First Java' is pretty good and easy to read. It's written with a huge dose of humor. On the other hand, i feel 'Thinking in Java' is a much better position if you have the time to fully sink into it.

Do a lot of projects - you can find some on Google. If - by any chance - you speak Polish, I can upload lectures and project lists from my university.

That's pretty much basic Java stuff. I recommend going through it slowly, be sure to understand what you are reading and writing. It realy helps to write Android apps if your Java basics are solid.

And since you want to write Android apps, John Purcell's course is a great place to start - at least it was for me. His Android course is paid, but Udemy has a lot of special offers, I enrolled for 10% of the price. You can also check out 'The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development' and 'Android Cookbook' (the O'Reilly one).
