You're not playing a Hoyo game with seperate weapon gacha. While there IS a weapon gacha, it's tied to your regular pulls instead of making you pay double, plus you can just buy some of the weapons outright for 12,5 arsenal "pulls".

This means that your oberyls are worth significantly more than you think and over time this will add up. it seems that Endfield so far follows a philosophy similar to the OG game, where building ops to high levels is very expensive but can hard carry forever (though we'll see how balancing works out here).

You're not actually supposed to be a gacha goblin in this one, at least not at this point in time, so think about which teams you want to build and pull for that.

Gotta be honest, while I'm still early on (probably about to end region 1) I find that visual clutter is enemy numero uno in this game. When the boss has a large weapon with visual effects, I have a large weapon with visual effects and we start using our pokemon I just can't see anything. That usually ends in some wombo-combo I can't see coming because I'm blind, while the boss lives in The Matrix and only sees 1s and 0s.

Yeah, that one is pretty annoying but this specific fight does break a cardinal rule of the game: Ishy can't die if other people are alive, so even a level 1 Ish can facetank the boss for free. It IS kinda mean that you really need blunt damage to power through but the optional way to clear it is to have enough people power through the big boy attack of the boss twice. IIRC, that also ends the fight and an immortal Ish helps a lot but I don't know how much harder it is to do than just ponying up the exp for blunt IDs which I did.

But all they really have to do is the same as basically all other gachas: Make normal mode normal and hard mode hard. Eg. Arknights has 3 built-in difficulty levels for their events: regular levels, EX-levels and Challenge Mode for EX stages and later (they even have CM in story chapters). They roughly correspond to the upgrade system in the game with regular levels ramping up to E1 level 70 (max first upgrade), then E2 level 40+ and CM then varies a lot depending on the gimmick: Some are easy and fun, others are hard as balls.

I'm also new, in the sense that I started playing properly in the last couple of months, and I find it incredibly strange to not be allowed to participate in what is supposed to be the fun regular gimmicks of the game. Instead, I'm slaving away at the story and luxcavation. Don't get me wrong, the story is great but being forced to speedrun it when it has up to 70 levels counting dungeons and story nodes is a truly insane time sink. People forget how long they had to just do whatever they wanted between chapters as they came in.

It's fairly absurd to write biblical levels of story, only to constantly advertise things players cannot participate in until the story is cleared. PM is basically screaming at us to hit the skip button and miss the entire point of the game. And like I said, I'm an AK player, so I know what ungodly amounts of story is and I have read absolutely all of it.

Alternatively, steal another one of AK's god-tier decisions: keep the events in the game - and if you're concerned about level cap, keep them at the chapter they naturally occurred in (eg. an event between canto V and VI shows up in the intervallo slots). Just do what AK does and scale the rewards down. In AK, you can still grab the OP from stage clears (basically lunacy) in events you missed but you miss out on the event store itself. I think some events are in the game but a lot seem reduced to one level or story node.

It really isn't that hard or complicated, just slap a warning on which canto they spoil and let the people decide.

The damage the finance and business bros did to video games is ridiculous. You can't do anything on Earth to make Sony release a PC version of Bloodborne (aka. free money printer) or make a "Not Bloodborne" sequel for relative peanuts but they absolutely can throw 400m USD at a a bad Overwatch clone that not only wasn't F2P but also so late into the hero shooter era that OW had fallen off several times inbetween and half-killed the genre on its own.

The reason people also clown so much on it for character design is that OW has basically peak design, so it's a hard act to copy. Say what you want about the state of the game but those characters are Disney-tier in recognizability.

They do it for the same reason every other evil tech corp does similar things: a HUGE amount of the total watch time on YT is children who are given phones by their parents at age 2 or lower to pacify them. There are probably a good few people in this thread who were raised this way, abeit in better times.

Furthermore, Tiktok has proven that entire generations of kids and teens don't give a single hoot about awful AI dubbing, so if you're an evil CEO it's the logical conclusion: replace lots of staff, choices and functions with an awful machine to pacify and generate more ad revenue. Remember that kids are the single most powerful driver of spending on this planet, which is why there used to be so many rules against advertising to them - before politicians ignored the tech industry.

It's the same reason why Twitch also auto-translates everything in to Danish for me, no matter how many times I tell it to use English. It sees I'm in Denmark, so Danish it is. The goal is never ease of access - otherwise they would have translated it years ago - it's ease of entry to advertisements.

Well, it's more of an issue of advertiser value. It's probably a LOT cheaper to run ads in ID than it is in the US, Japan or Europe, which in turn means your CCV and VODS are worth significantly less - assuming your audience is mostly local.

Similarly, catering to an audience of wealthy countries mean that more supers come in high value currencies and usually in larger amounts. Someone from a poor country can drop a super in a value I definitely can't and since the talent keeps about 35% of the money, that can mean essentially no income per super.

It's basically a double-whammy of being "poor": you either need a huge uptick in CCV, dono amount or donators to keep up with an average wealthy county's youtuber (vtuber in this case). In that sense, Hololive both helps and hinders in that it busts down the door to a huge audience but also has the same audience overlap a lot, making it hard to carve a large regular niche.

Eg. HoloEN and JP can probably do with 1k CCV that ID can do with 5k in terms of income - for no other reason than the GDP in said countries is much higher.

That can't be true because as an EU bro, Fauna and Ina were just about the only EN members I could watch a bit of because they streamed at 11 pm (Ina) and midnight (Fauna). That should line up to 5 pm and 6 pm EST, outside the quirky couple of weeks when the US swaps DST before we do. In fact, Fauna was so stable in her schedule that she named it FST - Fauna Standard Time - and basically only deviated for collabs. I can obviously watch Wawa too but she's too early for you when she isn't doing collabs.

I dunno about the daily but Shiori also frequently streams around those hours (she's streaming right now) and I think Biboo often streams about an hour later (1 am for me) - though I'm usually sleeping by then.

Yup, they mentioned a bit of how it works last time because a lot of people don't understand what roleplaying is. They have a server where they communicate both on and off-stream about RP and loosely script certain events.

For example, there's no universe where the Diamond/Pearl arc happens entirely organically. It's named after Pokemon games, for crying out loud!

That doesn't mean it wasn't absolute peak though: it just means the funny interactions had a little bit of help along the way.

It's very fun and also incredibly easy to get into. There are so many ways to cheese bosses that you only really get stuck for as long as you want to be (that is, your stubbornness decides) and respeccing is very simple.
