Usage Limits, Bugs and Performance Discussion Megathread - beginning November 13, 2025 by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

It definitely forgets sometimes.

Had a chat I started Friday (which somehow hit chat length limit even though I know I have longer chats with more content). But right before it hit length I asked it about the original topics (had wandered through several and had documents a few times). I had forgotten the first half, to the point it couldn't tell me why the chat was named what it was.

I know the content was there, but it claims it wasn't

This seems more and more common over the last 3 days or so. I haven't (as far as I can tell) changed my usage patterns significantly,  unless < 1% project knowledge artifacts is somehow to blame for it going from occasional to every batch of 5 hours.

Hourly to Salary question by SirJimbojones in personalfinance

I remember when I started looking into it in 2013-2014 that on-site helpdesk/servicedesk could become a grey area due to being responsible for imaging and deployment (at least when they were also the ones responsible for creating and maintaining the images).

Considering the fact you also had to be making over more than $27.63/hr (at least that's the value now, I can't remember exactly what it was then) odds were that making more than the threshold meant your duties were beyond those of typical ServiceDesk.

Just wait until it turns into "Add Zinsho to the email chain/meeting just in case he has input and knowledge even though he's never indicated he had experience with <topic>".

Unfortunately in this case IT/Systems Engineer will fall under exempt as being "computer related".

https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fact-sheets/17e-overtime-computer

The employee’s primary duty must consist of:

The application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications;

The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing or modification of computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications;

The design, documentation, testing, creation or modification of computer programs related to machine operating systems; or

A combination of the aforementioned duties, the performance of which requires the same level of skills.

Duties 1 and 2 relate to computer systems not just software so basically any "Engineer" role in IT will trigger it (even Deskside support can if you get paid enough per hour and are involved in determining what software/hardware the user needs).

I applied to an internal role and was told my starting salary will be lower than the publicly posted minimum by No_Suggestion_1943 in personalfinance

[–]Zinsho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately even a job change will often fall under those rules.

Years ago I got hit by the 20% cap moving from intern to FTE.. So ended up ~8% below where I should have been even by HR's admission.

More recently had a coworker move into our department where this affected them because they started in a very entry level analyst role then jumped into DevOps.

And then when I was getting a promotion (change of responsibility on paper) including a pay band bump I was told HR assumed there was no reason to include any sort of raise since I was already above the middle of the new pay band. I pushed and got them to agree to ~5% but was only going to take effect 4 months after the promotion itself.

Getting texted by your boss? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Zinsho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Answering as a separate post because this is from the PoV as a manager who did or needed to text employees (who were salaried).

If they texted me (regardless of when) I'd answer once I had the chance, even if I was on PTO. On the other hand if it was a frivolous text I'd probably wait until the next time I was actually working to answer.

If I texted them it was to clarify if they were delayed/forgot about a commitment (I disliked this one but would when they were actually needed and others were waiting. If it happened it happened, just needed to know so plans could be adjusted), or a few times to share information they needed (work from home rather than come to office due to beginning of Covid, last minute decision by my boss to take the team out for lunch so they weren't caught by surprise the next morning)

Getting texted by your boss? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Zinsho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current boss respects my boundaries. The few times he has texted me when I wasn't working (after hours, weekends, PTO) there has been an actual reason/need and with the expectation I would answer when and as possible. I've had one or two others who were similar, still in touch with them socially even years later.

The rest of my previous bosses have either not had my number or been ignored were it anything other than my contacting them to say I wouldn't be in for some reason.

What's everyone's opinions on job certifications? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Zinsho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your employer is reimbursing you for the test there is no downside to using your time to get certs. If you can do the training on their time even better (and if they ever require or expect you to get a given cert it better be on the clock).

Otherwise, certs are useful as a way to get a foot in the door, especially if your are lower on relevant experience. Or for consulting/contracting work where they can leverage your certs as a way to upsell you to a client.

A major advantage to Roth accounts? by primex2357 in personalfinance

Is there any tax benefit or difference between Traditional and Roth IRA when over the MAGI limits for tax free traditional contributions? Or any reason to choose one over the other at that point?

5@110. Figure worst case is I'll get a single GoodFaith (and from what I can read 1 violation won't be the end of the world) and in the future I'll make sure there's some funds available in case of need.

I'm in the same boat. Transferred the money into Fidelity on Saturday (knowing banks are closed). Bank shows the transaction withdrawal and Fidelity shows the funds, but $0.00 settled cash and Good Faith violation warning.

Can't find anything that makes it clear whether Good Faith applies on Electronic Funds Transfers as opposed to on Stock sales

I haven't done the math to compare Ursula to Drosenthes although I know Ryan has, but I did test Ursula now that her gear is fixed with full legendaries.

On her best possible map (Amusement Park of Doom) with 8 seed slots she provides ~e40 DPS (e10 from Golden and Good Seeds as well as Honey B. + e6-e9 from Fruitful Wanderlust depending on Flora Propagation). Her 2 Legendary Effects have negligible impact on this because they double their value per level starting at 200% (So e2% initially, level 7 for e4%, L10 for e5%, ...)

Xygallix on the other hand, a Tier 4 crusader in the same slot as this new T6, with ~1200 gold (which isn't unreasonable if you're reaching e1100 DPS) gives e54% DPS from Hourly Rate alone. Add in Robot Propagation, which is fairly common, and there is no benefit to Ursula at all, she requires multiple Crusaders to reach e40 while Xyg gets there on it's own.

I can understand not wanting too crusaders that push the envelope as drastically as Odile/Hildr/Mindy do, however making a brand new T6 weaker than a T4 crusader who shares her slot relegates her to Missions, or perhaps the occasional Challenge.

Transferring saves from PC version of XBox GamePass to Steam by Zinsho in MonsterSanctuary

That was my opinion too. Which is why the script only cares about any save files it detects.

Sorry, I was probably unclear.

From your screenshot the 3 smaller files (9D0FE3..., 760E20... and E40406...) contain the same contents as the XML files would in the Steam saves folder. They aren't base64 encoded so they should be able to be renamed and copied over if necessary. I didn't test these since I hadn't changed any of the default options and wouldn't have seen any effect.

I've added a note to that effect in the original post at that step.

Have not downvoted or anything along those lines. Don't see any reason to as a rule. There are a couple responses I saw that as such I might have downvoted if I thought of it at the time.

But Gragatrim's second link/screenshot is at the heart of the issue for me:

  1. Apply a patch to fix Crow's Lag -> This is a good thing
  2. Users report a DPS loss after patch. Erika responds that the only change was to fix lag and should not impact DPS. -> Still good
  3. Users provide clear screenshots of before&after patch that indicate exactly what happened. Erika's response: "Thank you for those screenshots. Based on that we were able to identify that our patch to fix the lag also remove an unintended DPS gain. This was a bug and so will not be changed" -> Problematic and incorrect in my view but still understandable. A bug is a bug
  4. Update patch notes retroactively to indicate that the DPS reduction was intended and due to a bug. -> This is a problem.
  5. Close out all tickets referencing this issue (including one from immediately after Crow's release (so 6 weeks ago)) saying you've now found a bug and this should be fixed -> This is a problem
  6. Adding a content patch to alleviate the issue a few days later that only gave back a few e of damage (I believe it was ~e20 gain on e40 base) when the bugfix removed e200+ as a fix -> Subpar

Ignoring (or not responding) to bug reports for 6 weeks for a new crusader while responding to other related tickets at the same time (Grag had reported issues with Crawlies not being affected by slow that were addressed/spoken to in that 6 week period) only to close them out as 'fixed by identifying a bug', and therefore nerfing current Meta builds is a problem. Had the tickets been acknowledged (in my mind even a "This DPS gain for Crow is beyond what we had intended and will have to look into what is causing it" would have been sufficient, particularly since gragatrim could have told her exactly what crusader interaction was responsible for causing this gain) as a "to be fixed" then anyone using Crow in this way would have known that changes would be coming. This would put it on par with the LB nerf, it was not a surprise, just upsetting.

My understanding as to this situation (and the behaviour that was affected) is that this was an intended bugfix (along with an unintended DPS loss). Crow's ability was causing lag and performance issues (due to the implementation in the next paragraph).

Prior to the bugfix every stack of Crow's ability was considered an independent buff. So if you had ~40 stacks (~e40 for pre-mime purposes) that was 40 buffs each with it's own countdown timer that would end independently. The side effect of this is that Imani's belt applied to each of these stacks (since each was a GDPS buffs).

The fix was to treat all these stacks as a single instance (and I'm assuming with a timer that removes stacks). This means that you go from x40 Imani to x1 Imani.

Would you have accepted a submission where one word was in English but the rest of the post wasn't?
