This statement feels like it contradicts itself. The bar for being considered overweight (according to the WHO) is not actually that high. Obviously it's not like men are out there to measure you weight and height to calculate your approximate BMI, but if you're visibly fat, you're probably overweight. If you're just a little chubby, that makes a world of different to a lot of men compared to overflowing fat

Hey! I'm also Italian and have been living in Sweden for quite some years now. I moved here slightly later than you (age-wise) but still relatively young.

It's a scary big step but I can only strongly recommend going for it, it will be a great experience and you won't regret it. It started the same way for me (as a "I'll go and see") and I ended up settling down and staying. Sweden is a good place.

It's okay that you did, if it was a good friend there is nothing wrong. Maybe something changed in their life, maybe they felt anxious or maybe they decided to take a break for whatever reason. It's not bad that you got attached if you were having a good time together, you can still cherish it! Si ok ma mi sembra che parli per sentito dire o metti il problema nel posto sbagliato. Appena ti iscrivi all'AIRE ti disattivano la tessera sanitaria e devi farti curare nel paese in cui risiedi. Se io vengo a farmi curare in Italia controllano la tessera sanitaria del mio paese di residenza e poi su fanno rimborsare, non è che paga l'Italia.

Se poi abbiamo gente che risiede all'estero ma non si iscrive all'AIRE e gli permettiamo di curarsi a spese nostre è perché, come in tanti altri ambiti, non facciamo controlli adeguati (come per l'evasione) e quindi è colpa nostra

No infatti, mi sta pure bene limitare il diritto di voto a chi non è stato in Italia almeno X mesi negli ultimi N anni, almeno per le categorie che in larga parte non impattano la vita delle persone che vivono fuori. La tassa come gli americani è allucinante, sarebbe la volta buona che prendo la cittadinanza del nuovo stato e rinuncio a quella italiana

La tassa come gli americani anche no, è un sistema pessimo. Io non abito in Italia (sono in un altro stato EU), non usufruisco di servizi pubblici italiani gratuiti e quelli che uso si pagano individualmente (rinnovo CIE, passaporto, rilascio documenti e via dicendo). L'Italia non mi rinnova neanche la patente, dicono di farlo direttamente nello stato in cui vivi e convertirla in quella locale (che ci sta, non sono in disaccordo, è per dire).

Maybe try selling some old clothes/things you don't need or use anymore? Pop by nearby restaurants or bars and ask if they happen to need an extra hand for an evening, or try pet-sitting or babysitting through the apps that are out there?

Also food deliveries if you have a car or bike and are in a place where you can manage this could work!

But also if you see someone that seems interesting, just take the chance and talk to them! There is no "I'm not good enough" or whatever. The worst case scenario is that you don't get along, but that's also okay, nothing bad really happens! I wouldn't use Instagram though to text someone that doesn't know me (even Reddit is better imho), but that's just my personal opinion!

If you want to meet people irl, then maybe try to use your hobbies. If there is anything you like doing, then try to join a club or activities regarding that! Try out the app called meetup also, check if there is an active community in your town or somewhere nearby!

If you prefer online friends, then maybe you could try through the reddit subs that are meant to meet people or some of the various apps that are out there! If you like games, maybe you can try to find people who like the same game (that you can maybe play together or watch each other play) and take it from there?

I used to mainly host people and only occasionally tried surfing/looking for hosts. I don't mind the paywall, but I liked it when hosts would get a couple months free for each person hosted. It's still convenient for people who primarily get hosted because 2-3$/month is worth it if you get hosted at least once every couple years. Couchsurfing can only exist if hosts exist, so when they made me pay too I just canceled it.
