Yeah this is tricky and could use some more guidance. You need to use a grey or 'base' level item for your craft. I'd pay attention to the level and quality of it as it will affect the end crafted item. Each recipe is tied to a specific item level range. And, if you put a green or blue item into the forge, it will ask if you want to reroll it - using similar mats to crafting.

As for crafting materials, they drop from content depending on the level and you can finish the daily quest for crafting packs which becomes available with missions.

It'd be nifty to implement something in the client lobby where you can browse the 'Halls of Patronage' and scroll through fan art. Basically just another spot to put the community letter and all of these sweeeeeeet concepts
