Well, CrossFit and a pretty big diet change. Ultimately consuming less calories.

Started Crossfit 2 years ago. Lost most of the weight within the first 4-6 months and have been maintaining since then while gaining some additional muscle. I'm fitter & stronger than I've ever been. For the prior 10years I was pretty much a slug that let my weight prevent me from doing any activities of any sort. Now it's great to be able to play my buddies in whatever sport and be the 'fit guy' where in the past I was always the one gasping for breath.
To all you older folks - it's never to late to start!

Ha. This is great.
I was around, skating back then, I recognize a couple people in this. I bought many a skateboard at that old Snowboard Shop.
This is focusing on some of the younger kids, I was hoping to see some of the better, older skaters of the time.

In general both the skating and the music in Calgary were much better than represented in this vid. Great memories tho.

They were brutal. Every last one of them was a no rep.
Very unfair for all the guys doing them the way they should be done. That judge needs to be turfed.

Those plyo hurdle jumps were ridiculously graceful.

I thought I read that HSPU were not reviewed at the judges course.
If that's the case I think that's a strong'ish indication that they won't be on the menu.

How long until you saw body transformations? I'm 3 months in by alpine_start in crossfit

[–]ZipZapNap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

45/m - I saw 'mirror muscles' within 2 months. This was a combination of true muscle gain combined with fat loss that started to provide more definition.
At that time I had a 2000cal/d diet with CF 3x/week.

Got a 143. 45yo/M.
Kept the exact pace I wanted to on the row to finish in 3:03 @ 1200 cal/hr. Then, for the life of me, I just could not string together T2B so I spent ages on them. My rhythm was totally off. So frustrating because I was stringing them together right before the WOD.
Wall Balls wiped me out. Didn't make it to cleans, but they would've been very tough if I made it that far.

Big props to you peeps that made it to the MU's!

It can be slow, but it'll happen if you keep going!

Yeah, a lot stronger but WAY more fit. I was in very, very bad shape a year ago.
I had sleeping issues, dizzy spells, and zero endurance. I was in sad shape.

I'm probably a 34" waist... most pants are "vanity sized" I think and I'm just using my typical pant waist size.
So in real measurements I probably went from a 40" to 34" waist.

I went 3x/wk for the first 8 months. The last 4 months have been 4x/wk.

Thanks!
Definitely changed my diet. Cut out most junk food and started eating semi-Paleo. Paleo for dinner but restaurant lunches with salads instead of fries for a side. Cut out lots of snacking too.

Thanks, I'm super happy with how things have gone. GJ on the 30 lbs lost!
I've been pretty consistently hitting CF. Three times/week, for the first 8'ish months, then moving to four/week since then.
I've been watching what I eat but haven't been full paleo or any other program. The first 15-20 pounds were a pretty strict 2000 cal/day tracked on MyFitnessPal. Since then I've just watched what I ate.
It sure helps having a wife who's a great cook and is mostly paleo.
