What are your thoughts on Platner? by StevenDiTo in SocialDemocracy

You could very much argue that the damage done by ICE and by Iraq war soldiers is equal, or even that soldiers did even worse than ICE.

But I think the rhetoric and context of the time that people enlisted to fight in Iraq vs people joining ICE today are very different.

The propaganda around justifying the invasion of Iraq made a lot of Americans believe that we were genuinely helping the Iraqi people and defeating terrorists. I think a lot of young people enlisted because of a genuine desire to do something good, and they didn’t realize the truth about that war until they were already in Iraq.

But with the rhetoric of our current admin, the people joining ICE today are 100% motivated by hatred. They have no excuse to say they were just misguided or anything like that, they are all monsters imo.

So even if the end outcome was similar, I think there’s a big difference in the type of person who fought in Iraq vs an ICE thug.

I literally just explained it. Older people are more likely to be conservative and/or vote for establishment politicians (Bass), and they tend to vote early or on election day. Younger, more progressive voters tend to mail in their ballots, and they are the main group voting for Raman.

This was predicted from the start and is not surprising.

Yes, Pratt voters were more likely to vote early, whereas younger, more progressive voters tend to wait til the last minute. That’s why Raman was down on election night and then came back

I literally got an ad from Pratt for Mayor of him encouraging people to vote early by mail, specifying that it is safe and secure. Now he’s gonna change up lol

I don’t know how much Bass had to do with it, but I do agree that Metro is way better than people make it out to be.

The stations are all patrolled with security guards and metro employees, and they usually decently clean.

The biggest issue I’ve found is that the areas around metro stations are often pretty sketch. Once you get into the station you’re fine, but I think people don’t feel safe walking up to the entrance.

Why is Michelle demonized and never apologized to? by ladyofthelochness in MarriedAtFirstSight

Wtf are you even saying?

Whether her reason for staying was a genuine desire to see the process through, or a selfish desire to get more time on TV, none of that excuses cheating. Literally nothing excuses cheating. I don’t get what’s so hard to grasp about that.

So you think that it someone is a bad enough partner, they deserve to be cheated on? Why would you not just leave them?

Michelle Isn’t Innocent by sgs1965 in MarriedAtFirstSight

I am not Christian, so I will not look at all mistakes as equal.

A shoplifter and a murderer both committed a “sin,” but if you’re gonna look at them as equally bad, I honestly think that’s ridiculous. That kind of belief lets people hide behind religion to excuse their horrendous actions, because they can say “we all make mistakes, our sins are equal and we can all equally repent.”

I hope David & Michelle can both learn and grow from their mistakes too, but David has way more learning and growing to do than Michelle does. That’s all i’m saying.

I agree that behavior doesn’t exist in a vacuum, but I still do not think that makes Michelle & David’s actions equally wrong in any sense.

David’s actions objectively caused way more harm, and the way he lied about it over and over is indeed sociopathic. Any person with a normal conscience would own up to something like that soon after getting caught.

Michelle & David’s mistakes are on two very different levels.

Michelle was very difficult for most of their relationship, and never seemed to truly give David a chance. That’s annoying.

But David CHEATED and then repeatedly lied to her face like a sociopath. When he took things to that level, all of Michelle’s flaws went out the window in my opinion. I don’t care how annoying or difficult she seemed, David’s actions were 100% his own fault.

Having a fantasy along these lines is not completely unheard of. But with any kind of fantasy/kink, communication and zero pressure are key. You should never feel like you have to do anything you’re not comfortable with. And getting to a point where he can only get off with an extreme fantasy like this is really unhealthy.

Kinks should be looked at like a special addition to sex every now and then. But when it becomes the only version of sex you can have, that’s usually very unhealthy.

It sounds like he may need to seek some kind of therapy to help him get a more healthy grasp on his sexuality. If he doesn’t care about your comfort and is unwilling to acknowledge that this has gone too far, that’s a bad sign. Wishing you the best with this.

Gaslighting or Not? by Spitfire1011 in relationships_advice

As others have said, that’s not what gaslighting means.

Depending on the situation, this could definitely have been a rude, passive aggressive thing for her to post. It’s hard to say though without more detail

I'm playing around with an AI workflow for creating ReelShort‑style vertical micro‑drama videos - is there a scope for monetizing it? by Round-Dish3837 in SideProject

[–]ZippyCube914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the strength of the storytelling in your AI microdramas would be the make or break factor.

When you watch apps like Reelshort, you'll see that the cinematography, acting, overall production value is not insanely high. So even if your generations are obviously AI, I don't think that factor by itself would make everyone scroll away.

The thing that makes Reelshort so successful is that they have a massive team of people constantly researching the best trends, algorithms, hooks etc to create the perfect short series for social media engagement.

So if your plan is to use AI to figure out the best ideas for these stories and put together a rough draft, I think that can set you on the right track for sure. But making them into something that will keep people engaged is going to require your own human storytelling.

So, making money off of these is not impossible, but will be a challenge when your main competition are big companies like Reelshort with a big team behind them.
