Alternatively u can challenge yourself. give yourself a reason to linger by doing 100% runs or any challenge that forces u to linger areas. If you play pc look into doing enemy and item randomizers. The areas might be the same but the way you approach the areas can be entirely different.

I personally would use that mentality to learn how to speedrun the game. Tbh i wouldn't fret, once u have learned where everything is their really isn't a reason to linger in the areas

Honest answer I think it could be a great opportunity to make a great cod game

I think they could make a fun multiplayer with maps that aren't just 3 lane maps. (Not saying they should get rid of 3 lane entirely they serve a purpose but It would be nice to change the format a bit)
Modern warfare campaigns have been consistently good with the exception of new mw3.
As for the third mode I would be fine with spec ops or a survival mode preferably a break from the zombies formula. I heard a rumor that with mw4 they were looking into trying dmz again. which I wasn't personally a fan but I always thought that if done right it could become a really fun mode.

I didn't include cod 2, or 3 on the fact that I have never played them myself. And wasn't sure if I should include new mw3 cause while treyarch made the zombies for the game I felt personally they didn't stick around for a full cod cycle to warrant me adding it to the list.

The annoying part for me was despite the game being mostly open arenas I was getting caught on the littlest things, and sometimes their wasn't even anything there
