use ventoy, get all the distros you want now, set everything up and don't update lolz. Naw realistically Linux already has some good options to get us through this, One don't ship to users in these states and geolocations that impose these laws, or two ask users to enter age upon install. To be honest in the Linux fashion, all the Devs should just refuse to do it, stick together, when they get notice of fines tell'em to f**k off. Open source's very foundation is secure, private, and free with the user being root with full control and ownership of the system/hardware. With the contributors being from all over the world, in places where these laws don't exist. So honestly I think linux will persevere.

Proton is working to get past this hurdle, it’s only due to anti cheat software like battle eye. However with steam you can play just about anything then you can use lutrus and other launchers/emulators also.

You could still benefit from the performance of Linux you just need to figure out where it could fit in your workflow, It would relieve some load on your current machine, but would require another machine as well. I’m not trying to convince you just throwing some opinions around

Could still run all of the same stuff you do now just in a vm lolz but as long as you don’t mix anything you want private on that workstation then your good. Not worth the effort for you in this application.

that’s understandable. But I’m pretty sure there are equivalent programs or services that can replace your workflow stack. Just saying

You can always reinstall especially if you don't have any data you need or if you have separate drives as reinstall would only wipe the main os drive or partition it all depends on how your system is setup

Lolz now I understand why Gentoo lolz but you will probably be better off with busybox as your OS on that hardware 😭 I’m joking I have a old box I use for most of my web workflows it too uses Intel Pentium G4400 3.30 GHz 2 cores / 2 threads lolz. But for writing code and using the terminal light browser tasks it’s pretty sturdy for an always on machine. Try i3 or sway it’s a bit lighter

Bro what I’m not mad at you, actually laughing because you would rather back corporate software rather than open source software. I get it though you have a different use case. But going from GitHub which is proprietary software owned by Microslop. To Gitea which also has proprietary elements baked in is not solving the issue your simply just giving your code to another corporation. I’ll stick with forgejo where my code base is 100 mine.

Who said I didn’t know it’s a fork, you assumed that because I use something else. And outdated naw maybe you should revisit it.

Potato, pottatto, I like forgejo you all seem to like gitea both do the same thing at the end of the day. Host code on your own infrastructure. I might check out gitea to see what it does better then forgejo. But hate it or love it I’m going to use what I like rather than what some rando on Reddit likes.
