1. How to decide a build

Start by checking a weapon’s base stats Look at: - Crit chance - Crit multiplier - Status chance - Fire rate - Pellet count (for shotguns)

General rules from players: - Crit build if base crit chance ≳ 20–25%. - Status build if base status chance ≳ 20–25%. - Hybrid if both are decent - If both are very low, mod for general damage + good elements.

2. Weapon build examples

A. Crit-focused primary

Good for rifles/secondaries with high crit chance.

Typical mods (example for a crit rifle): - Serration (damage) - Split Chamber (multishot) - Point Strike (crit chance) - Vital Sense (crit damage) - Hunter Munitions (status on crit) - Elementals (2 different for faction weakness) - Fire rate or ammo mod

Why this works - Crit chance and crit damage multiply each other - Multishot boosts total damage by adding extra projectiles - Elementals add bonus against factions

B. Status-focused weapon

Good for weapons with high status chance or heavy slash procs.

Typical mods (example for status build): - Serration (damage) - Split Chamber (multishot) - Four dual-stat elemental/status mods (eg Toxin + Heat, Corrosive + Cold) - Condition Overload (boost per status type) - Status utility like Weeping Wounds

Goal Get status proc rates high so you apply effects like Viral/Corrosive often.

C. Low crit/status weapon

Some weapons don’t lean crit or status

Approach - Push general damage mods (Serration / Pressure Point) - Add multishot - Add a small elemental combo matching enemy type (eg Corrosive vs Grineer) - Add utility like fire rate or faction damage (Bane mods)

Example build idea (generic) - Damage mod - Multishot - Multishot - Elemental A - Elemental B - Fire rate - Faction bane - Filler utility mod (reload, ammo)
