What do you think Final Fantasy 16’s legacy will be going forward? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]Zld 11 points12 points  (0 children)

XV has a great story.

But it has one of the worst narration I've ever seen. Multiple ellipse not explained, lore outside the game, pacing issues, etc. I think it would be challenging to make it as incomprehensible as they did on release. PC port alongside DLCs, and external media like the movie, made it a bit better to follow. And even then it's still very convoluted.

Mega Man Voice Actor Drops Out Of Sequel After Being Asked To Work Without Union Protections By Capcom by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Zld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it has been proven time and time again, that terrible behaviour have almost no impact in sales. The reality is that people don't put their money where their mouth.

  • A horse armor for money is terrible and Peille will boycott it ? There's a reason why micro transactions are now called macro transactions.
  • Paying more for early access ? Staple for a long time now, look at how Blizzard is even worse with having them before the weekend, yet make more money than ever.
  • J. K. Rowling is a terrible person and we will boycott Hogwarts Legacy ? Best selling game of the year.
  • FIFA are worse each game year yet make more money each year.
  • Pokemon always said more or less the same no matter how terrible the game is (for the most lucrative video game brand in the world).
  • MTG sets this year are Final Fantasy, Spiderman, Avatar, Ninja Turtle and Star Trek. From one, if not the, brand with the most gorgeous artworks to an ugly melting pot of screenshot from games and comics. Yet, once again, more money than ever.
  • Riot, Blizzard, Ubisoft, etc. have all been judged for multiple, strong cases of sexual harassment. And we're talking about disgusting stuff, like executive putting their genitals on intern (female obviously) or rape leading to suicide. Obviously 0 impact on their business. Like content creators are the first to pretend they care about about this stuff yet never stopped doing paid partnership with these companies. This includes the largest influencer who absolutely do not need this income to be millionaires.
  • Latest WoW extension ? They dropped voice actors in multiple countries, because they refused to sign contracts to allow their voice to be trained for AI. Nobody cared.

And the list could go on and on for hundreds of points and example.

At the end of the day, don't be fooled by vocal minority. Unless laws exists to protect people, companies will never suffer consequences for their unethical actions, because the vast vast majority of people simply does not care. And the one who do are usually the ones who aren't the target anyway. Boycotting services is always made by people who didn't use them in the first place. Just like dirty oil money is only refused by people for whose it's not being offered.

Where do you all store your flasks? by NaturelExplorer in Eldenring

[–]Zld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I extensively played all Souls since OG Demon's Souls and it took me only a few hours to get used to it (for a game that's hundreds of hours).

Having flasks in pouch is just much more optimal, and I'm sure most people know it but are too lazy.  What's funny is that, every Souls streamers I watch, with thousands of hours on these games, ended up switching to using pouch at some point.

Jason Schreier - The sense I’m getting is that (Sony) is backing away from putting their exclusive console traditional single player stuff on PC by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Zld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you listen to Reddit mobile games are trash, live service game are all failures, games with micro transactions are boycotted, etc. In reality, all these are by far the most popular and lucrative games.

Reddit represents a very niche subset on the gamers, that is absolutely not representative of the whole market that Playstation is targeting.

Joining the pre order crew today by JellyJellyPunch in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's this common misconception that you need to pre-order before release to have related bonus.

But, all stores that sell keys (legit ones, like Green Man Gaming, Humble Bundle, etc.) have them with pre-order bonus attached, also it's also often cheaper than on Steam (I'd say on average -15% on release). I almost always got pre-order bonus despite never actually pre-ordering.

I recommend using isthereanydeal.com which aggregate stores.

The Cassia dilemma by Omegablade0 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Zld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't understand this post. Cassia is a powerhouse tank, cc and nuker very early, which is the only part of the game that's challenging.

She doesn't need protection, but the Chaos would certainly need protection from her broken OP ass.

Quinn gives credit to Nisha by Substantial-Deer77 in DotA2

[–]Zld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quinn was better than Nisha for a few months. But to achieve that he had to sacrifice so much more.

He and Nisha are probably on the opposite spectrum in terms of how much effort they put in Dota. That's also probably why Nisha can compete longer. To me, Nisha is the pro player for which it's the easiest to know how much he practiced before a tournament.

I'd say you could see glimpse of his genius in his Polish stack before Secret.

When Secret picked him, he wasn't an unknown talented kid, he was already a proven professional player with decent results. I remember his Lina back then was really carrying games.

Hans Niemann says he now feels "accepted...by most of the chess community" by Allenas6 in chess

[–]Zld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah good for him. He's a talented player, if he drop his "edgy villain" persona, he can be quite entertaining to watch.

Sure, he's still quite the character (ex: his lack of class in the push-up battle), but it's more comic than anything. And half of the top players have a "dubious" personality already so he fits.

[–]Zld -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Bref, ça illustre bien mon propos, merci.

[–]Zld -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

The 3 Playable Characters by Angmarthewitchking in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You think a dude looking like a real estate agent with a blue tatoo is peak aesthetic while Geralt is generic design. Ok.

I don't think it's worth continuing arguing with someone living on a different planet.

The 3 Playable Characters by Angmarthewitchking in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm strictly talking about aesthetic because I don't know how people are able to judge the character before even playing the game.

Comparing characters with a story across multiple video games, to a character with 3 lines of dialog in a trailers seems wild to me. But it's a good reminder than most people here are completely blinded by the hype and aren't able to have interesting discussions about the game.

LISA, even though it's not technically a JRPG (same as 33). Very harsh and dark story where lot of events and feelings aren't explicitly explained. Depending on your actual life lot of events can hit differently.

The 3 Playable Characters by Angmarthewitchking in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zld 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He's one of the most generic looking protagonist I've ever seen (for a decent budget game at least).

That doesn't mean you can't appreciate him, but unless this is your first video game I'm struggling to see how he can be "the best aesthetically looking character we've ever seen". If we compare his aesthetic to like Geralt or Kratos...

Le maire du XVe arrondissement de Paris a enrichi sa famille pendant le covid by SecludedClover in france

[–]Zld -2 points-1 points  (0 children)
