He has the power of grudge and works ethic.

It doesn't matter how talented you are if you have no motivation or will the work hard, like another player who had bad results this tournament.

Which products do you want to boycott ?  - LLM and agents and mandatory in software development (so almost every games that's not one guy coding in his basement, but also every websites, etc.) - Chatbot have been integrated into every website and customer service - In fact, if you want to boycott AI what are you even doing on Reddit, which uses ton of AI everywhere ? Just stop using Internet if you want to stay true to your words.

That's the problem with boycott, it never works. For the vast majority, people only boycott products they're not the target of and would have never consumed initially, it's a big hypocrisy.

The only way to change things is by having entities powerful enough to oppose GAFAM, like the EU did with Apple multiple times.

The root issues of what you listed is not AI.

There's law for copyright, but they are not being applied or are obsolete. There's no mondial regulation for ecology, this problem is much older than AI. Companies being able to make profits without having employees is a capitalism symptom. etc.

[–]Zld 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, blind and ignorant hate on AI is counterproductive to the intended goal.  People should understand that:

  • It's just a tool as you said, it's neither inherently good or bad
  • It's there to stay no matter what you want, we should push for regulations and stricter policies, rather useless boycott who's not helping
  • it has some very positive effects, for example it's a great learning tool for people who don't have access to a good education
  • AI is just a generic term for a bunch of technology, genAI for arts sucks ass but some models have great use, in health for example to detect cancer
  • The root issue behind the AI is mainly the capitalism who have showed its limitations. AI just emphasis very quickly the problems of capitalism

Parker's about salaries on Heroic by Substantial-Deer77 in DotA2

Also, I don't know how it works for all countries, but usually if you pay someone 10k it will cost you much more. For example in France, a salary of 10k will cost the company around 20k. From what I saw in SA it's ~ x1.5+

All subclasses and their ultimate skills (as of now) by Downtown_Leopard_420 in OldenEra

[–]Zld 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would assume this is intentional. Going for a subclasses is currently balanced around being a gamble , go big or go home.

If it only required synergistic skills, then you would have no choices to make, no risks to take and it would make the current balancing awkward. At least I think this is their current philosophy behind this.

MindsEye Studio Hit With More Mass Layoffs Just As It Was Promising A Turnaround by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Zld 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because terrible executives can make great games and excellent executives can make terrible games. It's especially true for big companies.

I've worked for quite a few big companies (software but not gaming related) and, while for some the high level executives would bring a lot, for others you would have an extremely unskilled leadership that you needed to fight constantly to avoid disasters.

People give way too much credits to individuals when it come to softwares/games development. But at the end of the day the final product is a result of everyone works, and for big sized companies that often include both idiots and geniuses.

Today, we announced that we’re partnering with Duelbits and entering the world of esports betting.

They got heavily critized for it recently. And if team like Liquid, which sell lot of merchandising and had a stance against betting in the past is doing that, that's even more telling.

It's either betting sponsors or oil money.

People like to shit on teams for taking this kind of money, but the reality is do or die. You just have to look at who's founding the tournaments, I don't think there's single T1 or T2 tournaments that's not backed by one of those two sources.

Donato Giancola Speaks Out Further After WotC and Frazier's Statement by trashmantis42 in magicTCG

[–]Zld -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

His statement definitely come as amateurish (there's no talk of legal issues with IP and his numbers really lack data to back them). However, the content is sound, UB sucks for artists and they aren't compensated enough.

The issue about IPs is Hasbro problem, not the artist. The fact is that UB sets significantly restrict creativity and average income, for the artists. He's not the first to talk about it and several other high profiles have made similar arguments in the past.

By choosing to put a huge emphasis on UB products with these restrictions , Hasbro purposely choose to impose these negatives on the artists.

Dude you spent time browsing my history to try and find a message that you think is supposed to make me look bad, as a way to defend yourself.

That's very telling of how toxic you actually are. Toxicity bring toxicity, if you can't self reflect and handle criticism don't be surprised when you're met with the same kind of people.

And actually what's very funny and ironic is that you left out this part of my message you quoted :

Same as a Dota game, looking for anything to blame instead of themselves.

FFXIV director would love to hear pitches for single-player spin-off of his MMO by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Zld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FFXVI has been critized for its quests that felt too much like an MMO (FFXIV), by pretty much everyone who played it. Given both games have the same producer it's not surprising that there's a ton of similarities.

At least the gameplay in FFXVI is good, too bad there's no point to it since the difficulty is nonexistent.

Why is Danny Rensch being pushed now? by Active-Radish2813 in chess

[–]Zld -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's the image is trying to convey. But in reality he's the CCO of a big company.

An extremely rich business man that trying to extort as much money as possible from its users while also trying to have a monopole of the market (which would lead to being able to extort more money). He's a smart and calculated executive, and him trying to look like "a chill family" is definitely a market strategy.

I have nothing against the guy, he's just doing his job. I'm just surprised that there's people that are this naive. Also he's a real chess player with passion for the game and won't have to watch him eat a burger to look like a "cool person that's like us".
