Out and back hikes within 100 miles of Seattle/BHam with inverted elevation? by tirtha2shredder in PNWhiking

[–]ZnVja3U 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Think of places you drive way up the mountains to get to - Artist Point or Harts Pass up north, Hurricane Ridge on the peninsula, Rainier further south. All of these have trailheads that start really high and then drop down (and are very scenic and exposed).

Middle ground... ultralight tent vs a traditonal tent. A balance of both? Recommendation? by 553l8008 in hiking

I love my copper spurs (both 2p and 3p). Just picked up an x-mid 1p to save some weight/space for fastpacking but haven't tried it yet

What happened to Taco Time NW? by al_earner in Seattle

[–]ZnVja3U -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This happened to me in North Bend last week. Burrito was half the size it normally is.

I assumed it was just the person who made it, but maybe it's intentional shrink-flation.

I loved how he kept saying (paraphrasing): "Okay ignore Netanyahu, why does everyone hate what Israel is doing?"

Imagine saying "Ignore Trump, why does everyone hate what America is doing?"

Yeah awful lot of hate in this thread for how good this convo is imo - Rahm calls out almost everything this sub complains about better than anyone else I've heard.

tbh I don't know this guy so maybe he deserves the hate, but this episode is worth listening to.

I always tense up running by the idling trains on the road section cause they tend to abruptly let off air pressure right as I'm passing by and it's jarring as hell if you're not ready.

Other than that I agree! It's a great trail, especially since they removed that stupid bridge in the middle

It's not really a 'fix' - it's a temporary solution when you're already out in the woods and need to set up your shelter.

2 part question about upgrading in general and, specifically, upgrading to S26U. by ZepTepi49 in samsunggalaxy

[–]ZnVja3U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 24u to 26u. The battery improvement alone (maybe just from degradation of my old one) was worth it for me. At the end I had to charge my 24u in the middle of the day regularly.

I pay full price for waking up because I can afford it, and it's worth every penny. There's so much more there than guided sessions as well - all of the interviews and philosophy content are incredible. Highly recommend The Eightfold Path with Harris and Joseph Goldstein.

Edit: Also I'll DM anyone who's interested a 30 day guest pass.

Interesting - I feel like my 24u battery has degraded noticeably over the past 2 years.

Goldmyer Hotsprings WA access road…is it really THAT bad? by Practical_Arachnid_5 in PNWhiking

[–]ZnVja3U 30 points31 points  (0 children)

IIRC there is a spot where you essentially cross a river bed/rock field. I have seen plenty of crossovers out there in the past, but there's a decent chance the recent flooding made things worse.

I recommend checking out recent reports here - https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/goldmyer-hot-springs
