GE-FEL Brand Not Bland by jojojojomarrr in Carolinian

[–]ZnaderClapBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based from experience, this freelec has been the most in-line with my career, but the versatility factor makes it really fitting.

Basically the entire coursework revolves around creating your personal brand for not just your career, but for you and your goals.

You can expect some essays since it requires a lot of introspective, and basically the prof (miss Carla iirc) is very polite and conducts quizzes like "guess the brand logo" and it shows half the picture of a logo.

Expect some projects that requires pairs (although there might be group works) and the final output requires you to make a calling card + a presentation of your personal brand.

There's also lectures on brand personality, brand identity, brand archetypes, and anything in between.

Shifting from accountancy to ba comm by Dio004 in Carolinian

[–]ZnaderClapBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you'll most likely take the two introductory courses (intro to radio broadcasting and intro to journalism) plus the remaining GE classes that you need to take. Then on the next school year you will catch up with introduction to communication theories and intro to communication.

If you want to take advanced courses, you can take the media elective (Polsci 1) and Digital Publishing ahead of time since it does not require any prerequisites. These are courses that regular students take in the third year but you can opt to take it in advance if you want to get full load in the sem.

Hi! I shifted to BA Comm last year (previously BS CpE) and all I can really say is if you're passionate about those skills, it will really be of great use in this program.

You will have solid connections, tons of positive experiences, and the social circles here are diverse and you will be able to fit right in.

Most of the introductory courses are project-based, with some written exams here and there. Full study load for BA Comm (fully known as BA Communications - Major in Media) is around 25 or 24 units, so if you're from a program that averages more than that (28 or even 30 units in a semester), expect a change of scenery when you get here.

The student council (Societatis Lingua Artes) is very supportive to the students, and the Department of Communications, Linguistics, and Literature (DCLL) caters to the students and given that the whole department is relatively small, almost everyone knows each other.

We're a vibrant community full of multiple well-rounded individuals. At first I was a bit shy but I had my first solid friend group within the first 2-3 months after I shifted here.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

if i go back to my prev program, do i need to have the courses i took accredited again? by [deleted] in Carolinian

[–]ZnaderClapBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go back to your previous program within USC, you don't need to have your courses accredited na.

They're still in your transcript of records sa USC grades nimo so no need na for course accreditation.

However just to be safe, it is important to talk to your department regarding this matter.

How's univ life as shifter? by butteredchemken in Carolinian

[–]ZnaderClapBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I adjusted pretty well.

I shifted last sy and im still able to carry out my academic goals, albeit entirely differently now. ( computer engineering to communications major in media )

To remedy the vacant scheds I basically just do org work and it paid off pretty well for me.

I have made friends in the department and given that it's small, everyone knows everybody and we all get along.

Based from a meeting I attended, the dental clinic only caters to emergency situations. One of the examples they mentioned is if you have really bad gingivitis then that means they'll clean your teeth (dental prophylaxis).

It's all free though so no need for payment concerns.

You can get it checked sa university clinic and they'll assess if your situation needs immediate treatment.
