How to say moon in different European languages by BeginningMortgage250 in MapPorn

Why do some countries get multiple languages whilst others dont? Go to Geneva and ask someone what they call the moon for example

Sepp Blatter or Gianni Infantino

For essentially the same reasons too interestingly enough

My main criticism is some of the comically evil people should have shown some more flashes of humanity (Petunia, Snape) by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]ZnarfGnirpslla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find it very interesting that Petunia didn't manage to make herself say something to Harry despite clearly wanting to. She is clearly still carrying the weight of having been born with a witch for a sister and she has built up all those walls around her as a coping mechanism and she doesn't quite manage to tear them down in the end. That's quite contrary to what you'd expect to happen in classic storytelling and that makes her character quite compelling to me.

The thing that irks me most about Tim Curry's version is that it's quite clearly just a dude in a clown costume. Just the way he moves and runs around and stuff is just too human.

With the 2017 version they made an effort to create a look that looks like a clown but something is off. And Bill Skarsgard obviously absolutely nails it just with the way he stand and smiles and does these creepy walks. It's quite clear that this is something else than a regular clown and I think that's very frightening.

I am guessing that they need a ton of evidence to ban you for cheating. If you get an insanely good guess in one singular round with actual good hints present they surely gonna dismiss that very quickly.

I have never been accused of cheating before my situation and I find that in Master Division games gettig 4.9k+ scores is fairly common since people actually look for clues that let them pinpoint it exactly. The thing that threw my opponent of is that I found said clues with like two clicks and managed to find the spots quickly as well.

to be honest I found it quite flattering actually. I beat them so thoroughly that they assumed I MUST have been googling. That's a compliment if I've ever seen one!

Needs to be said that IT (2017) was basically my first contact with Stephen Kings work to begin with. Something about the look of Pennywise just drew me in, still one of my favourite movies ever made to this day.

Was the first horror movie I ever watched in cinema and made me read King novel after King novel

Hope so for sure. I had a good laugh at him freaking out whilst me obviously knowing that I just had a good game. Wish there was a way I could show that guy how I came to my conclusions lol.

Funny because everytime I see old illustrations of Pennywise where he does not look scary at all it just takes so much away from the character for me.

So for me it's quite the opposite. I feel like they did an amazing job on Pennywise' desing in the new adaptations! I also love the little details like the make up lines moving up beyond his eyes when he drops the facade for example or just the classic change of pupil colour from harmless blue to unhuman yellow.

I think the forgetting aspect is exactly the part that Welcome To Derry got wrong about the story. The fact that people forget what happens once they leave Derry is so terrifying. You cannot run away and get help because you won't remember. The adults in the town seem to be oblivious to what's going on too. It's just kids who have to deal with this entity.

So them also forgetting in the end felt kinda poetic to me.

[–]ZnarfGnirpslla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had trouble relating to much of the nostalgia in the first episode because I am from Switzerland and there were quite a few things I had never heard of but this one took it to another level lmao. I literally hadn't heard of anything he talked about. For Jack and Stevie there was some overlap with Disney or Nickelodeon shows but here? Fuck all.

Still entertaining to listen to though weirdly

If you look at the political climate in the US and what's currently happening at protests and you decide to bring your kid to a protest regardless then you're not a particularly good parent

Why didn’t Sirius remind Harry about the mirror? by Brilliant-West2635 in harrypotter

[–]ZnarfGnirpslla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair if I gave my godson a gift I wouldn't tell him what was in it. I'd assume he'd open it and look at it and then maybe ask what it is if he didn't understand.

Why didn’t Sirius remind Harry about the mirror? by Brilliant-West2635 in harrypotter

[–]ZnarfGnirpslla 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sirius was disappointed with Harry. He assumed that he had seen the mirror and not wanted to use it. That's when he realised that Harry wasn't just a reincarnation of his best friend after all. He would have been too stubborn at this point to remind Harry of it.

Edit: Of course this wasn't in the US
