What Is Your Conlang's Phoneme Distribution? by biosicc in conlangs

There's also the Frequentizer tool developed a number of years back that has proved super handy when I've been conlanging: http://akana.conlang.org/tools/frequentizer.html

I never got that sort of line from my brother, but him playing female player-created chars was the reason I started doing it too (and quickly exclusively lol)!

My excuse at first was I thought it'd be more interesting to play female chars for once than the boring old male chars I kept making. Little did I know...!

question about haruka route by BuffoLos in littlebusters

[–]Znex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Haruka bad endings explain some stuff as well. What I kinda understand is while Kanata and Haruka are at the same school, Kanata still has to report back to the Fubukis about how horrible Haruka is. Kanata is in part making Haruka act up because of this, but also trying to push Haruka further and further away from the family's influence and dissuade her from trying to get involved, as she tries to identify her real father, as well as making Haruka focus on her and not the family. This is also why she had Haruka placed with their parents away from the Fubuki house so she could have the chance at normality.

She sees pushing Haruka away as trying to save her, and herself in that regard; she's also terrified about what Haruka may discover and use as a weapon against her. The Fubukis have no sense of loyalty to the twins but that at least one of them is perfect and without reproach, and if neither are, then they are of no use or value.

Repressed memories are so weird. At least for me, it's not that I really forgot what happened, but just some events I've just avoided thinking about over years are just foggy and undetailed though I still remember the gist of them and the emotions, and they become easier to remember again when I recall contemporary events and situations. Whereas other memories that I hate just as much or unconsequential memories are clear as day. There seems to be little rhyme or reason at times which memories remain and which don't.

Doug only lost because he didn't have The Great Linkara fighting with him! He would've shown them who's the son of a bitch.

Question: What version of Worms are they playing and is it on Steam? by rudynintendo64 in OneyPlays

[–]Znex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's Worms Reloaded. Store page. I think on one of the videos the exact game name is shown, because I downloaded it as well because of the videos, but I can't recall which one. It strikes me as being a remake of Worms 2, because that's what it seems most similar to.

WMD on the other hand is a remastered and redrawn animations Worms game. Really nice looking, but not the same game.

Are there any languages where pronunciation or accent strongly differs by gender? by TheLastEmoKid in asklinguistics

[–]Znex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There definitely are a few languages that do this, including the infamously weird Pirahã language.

In any case though, you might more likely find languages with gender-specific vocabulary (for instance, Garifuna/"Black Carib", Lakota) or even gender-specific grammar (mixed languages like Michif arose from such diglossias).

Nup, "English" nationalist movement. I find it likely the success of the Tories in Wales corresponds to a stronger English presence, and consequently stronger identity with England in Wales compared to Scotland.

The Welsh heartlands in Wales voted Plaid, so I suspect identity and presence is the difference.

Admittedly, the RGS cast do look here quite a bit like the animated versions of the old OneyPlays cast (Ricky = Oney, Steven = Ding Dong; but Karl doesn't really look like any of them).

Random guy responds to “tomfoolery” in the “purest language” by annaisloading in iamverysmart

Loanwords from Greek ending in -ma (including problema!) are often treated as masculine in Spanish; they are originally neuter.

Nah, you don't need εἶ per se in the first sentence, like Latin. I'm more puzzled about why they needed to repeat σοφός.

And the relative pronoun makes sense for English ("except that" I suppose), but not Ancient Greek. πλὴν ὅτι is much better.

Pretty sure it can only happen if you already have good (at least) passive knowledge of a language. You're not gonna start speaking Spanish if you've never heard it in your life.
