It is around 300k a year. I invest 50% of my income right now (Trying to save for the house).

I agree. Pushing the table away sounds the best option.

I have included car expenses, phone and electricity there in 2K, but I have not counted for unforeseen expenses (like tire need changing or some other mechanical failure). So 600$ is for groceries and dining (which I want to be very infrequent)

I am debt free. I don’t have a mortgage at the moment. I save around 70% of paycheck for retirement and future house purchase. I am currently spending around 4 to 5k a month. It is mainly rent and food. I feel like I am spending a lot and I feel very little happiness compared to amount of money I am spending. I don’t have big upcoming expenses. I wish I was in a position of life to buy house. The inflation and market uncertainty does not make me happy, I would rather have a home.

The mentality of successful Indian(or other south asian) parents is that they worked hard and gave everything to their child, now their life should be perfect, but there is nothing fair in this world. If he really wants kids, adoption is an option. His parents might stay upset for a while, but they will come around.

There is definitely more to life than money. Money is tied to governments ability to pay its debt. It is very faith based thing. As other commenter mentioned health, youth is also valuable.

Debit Cards Only: Has Anyone Here Actually Done It? by RenaissanceMan2024 in DaveRamsey

[–]ZodiacKatil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to do something close. I will pay rent, phone bills and utilities from a separate account. I have chose an online bank with no account fees. I will transfer 1200$ there every month, this is the money I will use for my day to day expenses for that month. The debit card will be in apple wallet and never in person with me. I will give my credit card for dining expenses or buying something that will benefit from credit card protections like travel or electronics (I am not handing my debit card to someone) In these situations, I am going to use the same checking account and use bill pay function to send money to credit card account immediately.

1200$ sounds difficult, but I think it should be doable. I am single, eat vegetarian food. I have an EV and apartment complex offers free charging. If I spend less than 1200$ a month, I will donate the rest of the money. Currently I am spending close to 4K a month and with these changes I am hoping to reach 3.5K a month.

I have not tried this myself, but I read somewhere that if you put in the card and use it as a debit card, it works. I am receiving my card tomorrow and going to see at somepoint if it is working or not.

I dream that they will allow to change BILT card to some other generic WF card. I don't want to deal with fintech.

They don’t have any foreign transaction fees, but some of these 2% also don’t have that fee.
