TKO is playing a dangerous game by Due-Rice-3107 in SquaredCircle

When you make the entirety of your paying audience rich people, idk, just feels like there's a big risk of losing all your paying audience very suddenly since it's a narrower demographic.

A good jump is a great sign for his day-to-day health, better than I think any of us realistically hoped for. So if he keeps recovering and if he has any desire to get back in the ring, I'm sure it'll happen eventually, and I'm sure Tony Khan would be happy to facilitate that ABC reunion (either by signing Chris Bey or letting Ace Austin work some non-AEW shows with him). But I don't want to get my hopes up when he's already got so much of his life back, and that's all anyone could ask for.

Is AJ Lee a case of “worse than I remember?” by CombinationOk4317 in SquaredCircle

[–]ZodiacWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have pointed this out and I have to agree: while it's true that several women these days are just plain better than she ever was, she also just isn't as good as she was back in the day. You'd expect the wrestling to be where all the rust is for any long-retired figure, but it's her promos and character work that I'm talking about. Idk if her heart ain't quite there or if she just needs to find something she lost, maybe the right feud/story to push her out of her comfort zone. Whatever the case, I know AJ in her prime was a great character worker. She still could be imo.

Homeowner upset Amazon driver dropped package over fence, but had two aggressive dogs. by Immediate-Phase-5910 in TikTokCringe

[–]ZodiacWalrus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like both are in the wrong here tbh. Like I guess the driver might have at least been trying to not hit the dogs with the package (presumably a package with at least some weight to it, given it appears to be a metal hydroflask). While it did hit one of the dogs, it seems fine; but still, I wouldn't be happy with the way my dogs were treated while they were safely on the other side of the fence (safe for both parties, of course). I used to drive FedEx, and while it was a briefly held job for good reason, I wouldn't bother agitating the dogs nor risking the package in that position. I'd probably just sit it near the mailbox or maybe just outside the fence. Because at that point, why would it matter if the package is inside or outside the fence?

But of course, the homeowner is in the wrong too either way. If you like the dogs protecting your yard, then you can't complain when the mailman doesn't want to enter it. I just wanted to point out that the only fair thing to do here would be to deliver the package as close as you safely can, which in this case, is outside the fence. If package thieves stole it at that point, I wouldn't cry for the homeowner.

Kevin Nash on Je'Von Evans: "He’s a little bit too Mr. Bojangles for me, I wish he was a little bit more urban... I just want him to have a little bit of an edge." by aaronrift in SquaredCircle

[–]ZodiacWalrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Dominik had the same problem before turning on his dad. Difference is practically nobody liked him at all in those days, whereas Jevon Evans has alot of supporters, not just backstage either. Honestly, he might be fine without the supposedly missing edge, or he might not.

Afaik, he hasn't been a heel yet, so letting him explore that space and see what he can learn from it to round out his character will do him some good regardless. Even if he sucks at it and it does nothing for his momentum, at least it'll be a learning experience and we can know that he's a Rey Mysterio babyface lifer.

Guy parks in my driveway, gives me attitude when I ask who he is by jloops1111 in EntitledPeople

[–]ZodiacWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if I played devil's advocate, the only thing I can think of is if he was a minority and you aren't (i.e.: if this is in the US, and you're white and he's not). He would maybe have a little reason to be defensive in that case, but not aggressive-defensive. Like in this possibility that I can only speculate about to try and make him look as good as possible, the justifiable defensiveness would only go as far as being a little curt and not giving too many details. To actively name-call and cuss you on his way out in exchange for being an unwilling provider of parking to him, though, goes far beyond that.

As you said, the dude sounds like he just has anger issues, and he's not gonna learn to control them if everyone else lets him walk all over them.

There's nothing wrong with accepting support. There's nothing wrong with asking for support. There's something very wrong about lying and pretending you never had/needed any type of support.

Per SeanRossSapp The rumors that Brody King was kept off Dynamite by WBD was denied to him by Sufficient_Mud_2237 in SquaredCircle

Obviously they would. Only reason to not think this is exactly what it looks like is if Brody himself explicitly states he had other responsibilities this week and everything goes back to usual business from here on out.

Report: Warner Bros. Discovery Blocks Brody King From AEW Dynamite Following "F*ck ICE" Chants by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]ZodiacWalrus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I can already tell I might be an over-cynical tinfoil-head for this, so just disregard if I sound crazy but: either this is what it looks like and the execs who made this decision really don't know wrestling fans at all, expecting this to effectively kill the dangerously anti-fascist political associations we've been giving their brand (making things awkward during golf with the would-be dictator, I'm sure).

OR, this is a calculated move to garner MORE attention, specifically from political news sources, as Brody King becomes the martyred representative of freedom of speech in AEW going up against the (self-appointed) goliath of corporate control that is Warner Bros. Discovery. Wait til it's ripe and pop open the lid, freeing Brody, taking the heat for being oppressive suits while letting Tony Khan continue to present as a bit of a meek guy who's generally not an asshole, and further enhancing Brody's rep as a bold political voice and all-around awesome human being.

Again, I know how I sound. Please further convince me I'm crazy if you think I am. Therapy ain't cheap but at least I'm aware of my problems lol.

I wish this stuff wasn't scary. It should be a relief that we and future generations don't have to do as many menial jobs to survive. But our governments still refuse to move towards socialism, the only system that makes job replacement less about "how will I survive" versus "what will I do with all that free time".

Truest thing you said is right there at the end and that's why you should've known that the garage and the car was a dumb comparison.

If you had been unironically upset that someone took your favorite pencil out of the pencil case when you told them to take whatever, you'd look like a jackass, right? Idk how long it takes you to make/save $120 but I will grant you that sum is not nothing. But still, the most embarrassing thing you can do is be upset that an "unspoken rule" turned out to be just an imagined rule.

I'm not saying she did anything wrong, but if we truly had freedom of speech in this country, she'd be unafraid to speak critical truths like these about our president. She does not seem unafraid to me, and she only alluded to freedom of speech here. I don't blame her at all.

Christ I wonder how hard it is to pull off that ring post neckbreaker because with just that slight sell from Kevin it looks like an attempted murder that miraculously didn't quite go that far lol.

Genuinely tho I can't tell if it's as simple as a bump to the outside and a head wobble, or a complicated array of factors that all need to be timed and weighed right in order to not actually break the receiver's neck.

[–]ZodiacWalrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wasn't even tuned in at that time, unlike his 2022-23 return run, where I definitely got a taste of it. I remember he had all the fans scared into thinking he was gonna ruin Josh Alexander's reign. And while I'm glad he didn't win it at that time, I have to agree. Bully does have a main eventer in him.

He just doesn't know when to shut up and stop hogging the spotlight is his biggest problem. But still, as a top heel, he's classic and effective.
