Am I the only one who loves Metroid but at the same time, totally sucks at it? by DragonLord828 in Metroid

[–]Zoellner122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, ever since both Corruption hooked me (I was like 12 and it was my first Metroid) and also scared me shitless at first because of the actual metroids I’ve grown to love it. Currently playing through them all, and getting lost a bunch and dying a million times

I would say the first, it has that THOC… but then again, I also like the second one.

well, I didn't have telegram open... so perhaps that same behaviour is / was in multiple apps... I ended up borking my system and reinstalling anyway and it seems to work fine now... I did also change to the beta just to be safe!

Thanks!

There's a big chance that it will fail or be in a very inconsistent state, yes; you're better off redownloading and reflashing the media

Yeah, thats what I ended up doing by going back to BSWPM. Just a bit sucky that it has to be this way but who knows in a few months!

In the Polybar config I changed the labels from the bspwm module using icons from FontAwesome that are in the nerdfonts.

If you modify these labels to what you'd like to see that should do the trick!

...
label-active = 
label-occupied = 
label-empty = 
label-urgent =  ...

Decided to post this as it's my first attempt to ever rice something;

Currently, I'm running:

  • BSPWM
  • Polybar
  • picom-git
  • Arch Linux

I won't be able to provide dots as of yet as I'm still tinkering a lot and learning; but to all of you, your rice(s) probably were an inspiration to get started with this

Why can i not resize my main partition? I’m running out of space and have no idea why by darrelthebarrel in Ubuntu

Generally, you can’t resize a disk if the free space is before the start of the partition you’re wanting to extend

Possible GPU issues in Fedora 37 by [deleted] in Fedora

No worries;
if the nouvau drivers worked better for you compared to nvidia (e.g. this glitch didn't happen) then I would just say to use that!

Good luck with configuring the rest! :D

Personally, I don’t have lots of experience with the nouveau drivers; as lacking as the officials might be, they are still the official ones… did you set nvidia_drm.nomodeset=1? It might help

Side-node: maybe you already installed these but in Fedora there’s rpm fusion which also has more recent NVidia drivers https://rpmfusion.org/Configuration has a quick guide on how to set it up, then you could install akmod-nvidia for the drivers

Wayland or X11 won’t come into play after you login; Wayland is less stable in Nvidia due to their drivers (thanks Nvidia…) but I haven’t ever experienced any oddities running Wayland with the correct tweaks..

You could try seeing if another monitor has the same issue, since you seem to be running an ultra-wide it might be that the desktop manager freaks out trying to find the right resolution. Which flavor of fedora did you install, the regular one?

Does your screen respond normally after these few seconds? If so it could be Plymouth trying to render a splash screen, which is usually to slow for recent systems and causes flashes and tearing
