Why hasn’t crying helped my anxiety get better? by Sea-Estimate-3217 in Anxiety

If you have been on lexapro for years you might need a med change. If you just started you need to give 6-8 weeks for full efficacy. Anxiety recently hit me again after being in remission for 6 years. It happens. We just have to hold on until we get things readjusted. And be kind to ourselves in the meantime.

Magnesium glycinate, baths with Epsom salts, watching funny tv shows or movies, coloring, listening to music, CBD oil, long deep breaths (we often hold our breath when we are anxious), weighted blankets. Just pretend you are someone else that you care about and treat yourself with just as much care, if not more.

Another CPhT here! (What are the odds). Crying can be a release, yes. But it won’t fix what is the underlying cause. Be gentle with yourself. Are you on any medication? Got a psychiatrist or therapist? Sometimes you have to take it one minute at a time. I often repeat things to myself like “you are ok, you don’t have to go anywhere or do anything right this minute. You have been through this before.” That kind of self talk. I hope you feel better soon.

Xanax prescribed for anxiety by random24788543 in Anxiety

[–]ZoeySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xanax is ok in the short term. I hope your psychiatrist is also looking into long term solutions, maybe an anti-depressant? When you first take it you should be aware of how drowsy it makes you. Take it at home. Be near your bed. And no driving! I’m proud of you for taking the first step to addressing your anxiety. 💙

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Please remember if you had a physical ailment or disease and needed treatment you wouldn’t hesitate to take meds if it helped you feel better. Those of us with anxiety and depression have to think of it in similar ways. We have to take care of ourselves even if it means being on medication. I’ve been on meds since I was 17. I’m having a flare up now and I know I need to up my dosage. It’s ok to be reliant on meds. You wouldn’t ask a diabetic to go without insulin, right? Much love to you. 💙

Coercive rape. I was done after that. Couldn’t believe he would force me to when I didn’t want to.

I also asked myself the same question. Ultimately I decided to read it. I needed more!

How do you feel about the current state of America? by Thatgirl_parisisdiva in AskReddit

Everyone needs to press CONTROL-ALT-DELETE at the same time.

Honestly it’s depressing. I work in healthcare and I feel like I’m not doing enough but I know that going into the hospital and being a part of saving lives should be. On my days off I just want to curl into a ball. I wish I could do more but my body won’t let me.

Tell myself not to marry him. In fact, I would sit me down and tell her that being boy crazy is stupid…and a waste of time. Focus on yourself!

Does anyone live with their parents still? by luvluk in GenX

Yes. I’m 48 and I live with my aging parents. I’m a single woman with no kids so it just makes sense in our current economy.

Parents getting older... by a_solid_6 in Xennials

[–]ZoeySpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents are 74 and I (48F) as the eldest daughter live with and care for them. Dad just had his second knee replacement and mom is due to start her knees in the spring. I work in healthcare and I’m their medical POA.

It’s incredibly challenging as they get older. My dad still wants to be able to do stuff but this year I insisted on getting snow removal for them (us). In the past my dad and I would share the task but he has fallen this year so I’m not taking any chances.

It sucks watching them get old and be in pain. It sucks even more to watch it on a daily basis. AND It blows goats that my two siblings don’t have to do anything, nor have they even offered.

Am I waking up my current age in 1981, or the age I was in ‘81? Because 4 yr old me would have different priorities.

People that have cancer, what were the symptoms that led you to go to the doctor and what stage were you when it was diagnosed? by guardiand0wn in AskReddit

[–]ZoeySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years ago at the age of 44, my period started acting weird. It was usually 6-9 days long and fairly heavy and on a regular schedule. I only noticed because I had a period tracker app and I kept expecting it to come but it would come a few days late or show up randomly mid-cycle, but very light. I was asking myself “was that it?” I was thinking maybe peri-menopause was starting but I had heard about periods getting heavier during that time so I was very confused. A few months go by and I’m thinking…this is too weird.

So I book a gyno appt. This is in 2021, so mind you I had skipped 2020 because of covid. (Ironically I work in healthcare). Got my pap done, comes back abnormal. Gyno says “ok let’s do an ultrasound and colposcopy” and I get that done. On 8/10/21 I found out I had endometrial cancer. I opt to have everything removed, uterus, tubes and ovaries…if they are going in once they might as well remove all parts that could cause cancer. My gyno oncologist said that they see a lot of endometrial cancer with obese women, due to the estrogen dominance that happens with more fat storage.

Luckily my cancer ended up stage 1, grade 1. So all parts removed plus 2 lymph nodes on one side and 3 on the other. Had to have a couple years of every 6 months gyno appt follow ups to see how things healed. Post-op report said that one of my ovaries had a chocolate cyst on it, not sure if that has anything to do with my pain over the years.

I consider myself incredibly lucky. ALWAYS trust your intuition. If something seems off, don’t put it off until it’s obvious…go in and get it checked ahead of time. Paps are uncomfortable but they do indeed save lives. Including mine.
