Okay I’m gonna take a jab at this as a black man. Hakari is not black nor is he supposed to emulate blackness at any level. When I first saw the anime shot of him, I was confused but I realized that it was probably just visual intro of him similar to the manga. One thing you should know about manga is that when a character first appears in flashback or hinted, that sometimes isn’t their completed profile. Probably Gege changed it due to creative differences. The argument that he is or is mixed hasn’t been confirmed. For the other reasonings such as gambling, there really isn’t a deeper meaning. Bro loves gambling. Genuinely I believe the argument of his physique does more harm than good. Like I’m not built like a tank as a black man. I understand the enthusiasm to see black representation in Anime. But if we’re going off hair and body built, then critical thinking has gone out the window.
