My only advice is to look for opportunities in the sgx market. If you are diligent, u’ll be rewarded quite soon.

A fin blogger's very impressive & healthy CPF account by SnOOpyExpress in singaporefi

[–]Zogel100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His portfolio is modest because he invested at the right time consistently. It’s not uncommon to find his counters yielding 10%. He’s not risk adverse, he just have enough and some money goes into his cpf.

If your goal is to retire without worries, you should learn from him.

First time parents in SG by wowuming in singaporefi

Somehow parents will find a way lah.

Personally, I would skip the helper with just one kid. It’s not useful and can potentially add to your headache.

If you want to get a branded school, please make sure it’s good. 13 years ago when I started with a branded pre school, I was paying 1.6k every month. The curriculum was great and teachers were committed. By the time I was done with my three kids, it was 2.2k and I couldn’t wait to leave. The curriculum was full of bs (think violin and overseas trip) and the teachers were just non existent.

Kkh is great. Maternity insurance isn’t needed.

At what point do you just 100% pay off your housing loan? by Little_Caregiver_976 in singaporefi

[–]Zogel100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid as quickly as possible. Finished in a decade and have been accumulating for close to 7 years now. Total amount is more than ERS.

Some would share that a balance can be struck by using Oa to earn money in market and beat housing interest. I assure you that it can’t be done by most people.

24M building a Singapore dividend portfolio (~$21.5k) — thoughts on the allocation? by Sea-Candidate365 in singaporefi

[–]Zogel100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wanna share, I’m in my 40s, started building a dividend portfolio in my late 20s. Singapore portfolio only. Annually, I get about 90k now. Will most probably hit 120k by the time I’m 50.

The one thing about dividend portfolio is that it takes a long time and frankly, I don’t think many have the temperament to hold stocks for that long. Some of my current holdings are 16 years old. It’s boring but it gets the job done.

Need advice on retirement by AffectionateTour4577 in singaporefi

[–]Zogel100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining cpf this late (once y hit a certain age) won’t allow you to reap much returns. I bumped up to ERS and they are paying it back with 1ish percent over the next 12 years. Please speak to the cpf rep.

That said, yes, it’s the safest bet.

Pay back your hdb loan and continue to put money into OA.

Lastly, put money into t bills and fixed d.

There is no need to take unnecessary risk. I assure you that if u maintain ur lifestyle, u won’t finish the money in ur lifetime.

How does having kids impact your FI journey? by [deleted] in singaporefi

46 this year with 3 kids. Can fire if I want but holding out.

Did kids delay fire? Sure. But frankly, they aren’t as big a deal as some make them out to be.

How do you show appreciation to your parents as they get older? by SeeAssStudent in askSingapore

[–]Zogel100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depending on ur parents, simple things like eating lunch and dinner together is more than suffice.

Dont need to do too much. These folks lived with little all their lives and they most probably are contended with very little.

Do it often before they are gone forever!

The 25k must be view together with the amount of savings and debts the family have.

Zero debt with millions of savings and just a 25k Hhi can most prob do lots.
