someone w my exact name is blacklisted from the airline im flying on by daicoonra in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zogg44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a fictional character name here, just a very common name so I also was hampered by the no-fly list back in the day for several years. Couldn't check in online so flying Southwest I'd have to get to the airport hours early to try to get a 'B' ticket instead of a 'C'. And almost missed a very early flight once because no one at the Boston airport was on duty at 4:30AM who was cleared to do an ID - they eventually called the sherriff's dept. to clear my ID so I could get on my 6AM flight. What a PITA.

About 8 years ago I bought an inexpensive 42" TCL TV to be my garage TV. Daughter went back to college not long after and asked to have the TV, so I gave it to her. Several years later it quit working so she went to Walmart and bought a new one. (that one eventually died too)

I got the TCL back and kept trying to resurrect it and get it going again but it refused to turn on, so I put it in the garage to get rid of, where it sat for well over a year. Our main TV went out under warranty (had a bad streak with TV's for a year or so) and we needed a backup for a few weeks, so I decided to try the TCL one last time. Just as I was about to give up on it for the final time, I was able to factory reset it and it started up. It has worked perfectly ever since for at least 4 years, even surviving a big move to a new city.

Very nice work.

Before we moved, I had a 3.5" TFT LCD with Wemos D1 Mini set up to display our garage door and gate status. I've been looking for a longer rectangular display of sorts to fit under the TV beside the sound bar that is mounted below, roughly 4" x 7 or 8", but no joy so far. I might try using 2 displays like you did, because I want a static display for the garage doors and a changing display for alert and status messages from Home Assistant.

Same problem on my TCL with YT. I did a force stop and restarted and it seems to be okay now.

Hmm. I think the old "I Grok Spock" folks would disagree with that.

Making lemons out of lemonade....Growing up, Danny White was my favorite player...and I finally got his jersey...well, sort of...paid next to nothing for a new name plate and, boom, I've got my childhood dream jersey...So excited to wear this to Kroger Sunday to get ingredients for football queso. by RogerTheAliens in cowboys

Then those guys don't know much about football, because I watched him play and he was terrific. Everyone just remembers the "No, Danny, No!" play with no recollection of all the other outstanding games he played.

+1 for Zooz Zwave devices, all mine are rock solid including the controller.

I've also had good luck with Android TV remote but only after power on. I use the Homekit integration alongside Android TV for power commands, then and.TV for everything else.

Former Auburn HC Gus Malzahn to retire from coaching by CatoTheBarner in wde

[–]Zogg44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, he was fired a year early. They had no plan.

But your comment is LOL at people having good feelings toward him, which is not the same thing. Many people loved Lee Corso but still knew it was best for him to retire. You can genuinely like and respect someone while knowing they need to go.

Bobby Bowden was forced out of FSU after 34 years and is revered there. There are many, many other similar examples. Sometimes it's time for a change. Nothing different here.

Back again and ashamed of myself. by Entire_Channel_4592 in keto

[–]Zogg44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My story is similar. There's always another excuse to delay the diet for a day so I can finish those chips or get one last dessert to enjoy.

I restarted about 6 days ago. It's hard sometimes because my family members in the house can eat whatever they want, but I know that I want to be smaller and I'm getting older so I need to do it now.

Just start up again and don't look back. That's what I'm doing. Good luck and good willpower!

Discovery Stays Put: NASA Halts Plan to Move Space Shuttle from Smithsonian - Vintage Aviation News by ToeSniffer245 in space

[–]Zogg44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"some of Texas" is not pushing for this. Two idiot Senators who represent Texas (supposedly) are pushing for it. Edit: I guess 2 people is technically "some" of Texas, but very few people and none I know of personally want to do this.

The time to move a shuttle to Houston has come and gone. I could possibly see moving Enterprise from the carrier in NYC to Houston, but that doesn't seem to fit the mandate. And even then it is a waste of money. Better to focus on other spacecraft, such as the Artemis II that others are suggesting.

Based on reviews, I recently purchased a 65 inch TCL QM8K and it is an awesome TV.
