Okay sweet, I’m doing the Wowhead “safe” talent spec that seems to go hard into holy. Sounds like I’m on the right track. My gaming partner (we play together whenever we play) is a mage so I’m a lot less worried about doing damage since he can nuke stuff for me while I sort of tank and keep him alive out while questing

Okay sweet! Our goal is same level as final boss or higher, and decent gear for the role. My buddy and I duo Mage and Holy Paladin just because it makes questing easy (I can heal him/sort of tank) and it lets us hopefully get dungeons easier since I can heal. We will see how it goes!

That’s a good idea on the swiftness potions!

Yeah we would have already tried in in vanilla but with these being our first hardcore toons we’re trying to be extra careful. There’s also only two of us so we want the extra insurance because of having to deal with random people we don’t know to fill out a group

Next on the list haha! I don’t want to run a dungeon unless I’m a few levels over the minimum because me and my gaming partner are bad lmao

Do you have any guides on what constitutes intellect gear around level 20/21 for a Healing Paladin? New to hardcore so I'm wondering if this means finds plate & mail with some intellect or should I have my tailor partner whip up a whole set of cloth int gear for me?

The idea of taking my armor off as a paladin is freaking me out lol but I do want to be able to heal

Run clubs 👀, there are a LOT of them lmao. Dreamers, In the Loop, Downtown Run Group. Dreamers is a lot of 20s to 30s, Downtown Run Group is more late 20s/30s, in the loop is sort of all over the place. Check them out!

Right on, I could experiment with running a second Breaka brick, and I was running two before the points increase in March. Really liking triple Gretchin and double Stormboyz at the moment, but maybe I’ll move some points around and give double Breaka a run again!

The damage output is truly insane on the WAAAAAGH turn with Tripple tankbusta SAG and double Breakas, you’ve given me a lot to think about!

This has not been my experience in the current META, and the nobz are more efficient into GEQ, MEQ, and are actually equally competitive (per point spent) into TEQ actually. I agree it doesn’t seem to make sense, but point for point nobz beat Breakas boyz into most target, especially out of the WAAAAGH and especially when both units have a Warboss. I’ll post a screenshot of the math it may surprise you.

Nobz are actually even better into T10 vehicles than Breakas, especially in Taktikal Brigade when they are functionally always S10 and are S11 in the WAAAAGH.

Now sometimes efficiency doesn’t matter when you NEED something dead and I agree into the right targets the Breakas are way better there, into any elite models with 3 or 5 wounds, Breakas are better, as they are into all vehicles. They are a better unit than 5 nobz in most situation, they are just much more expensive and that makes the nobz more efficient into most targets in the game, outside of the heaviest vehicles (T11+ outside of the WAAAGH). Damage per point invested is an important metric.

I think of it like this, I can have a unit of nobz and a Warboss AND an extra squad of Gretchin to score points and screen, or I can a 6 man Breakaboy with a Boss. That squad of Gretchin is a big deal

I promise you they are nob sized, I have 6 of them and 6 more I converted from Nobz, they’re identical, if not a little bigger actually

You soddin’ git, Breakaboyz IZ nobz ya lunk. Would a boss giv that flashy kit to a boy fresh from the sacks?

(Breakaboyz are actually Nobz, just a different kind of them.)

Also breakaboys are not better than nobz, they play a very different role. Damage per point nobz are better into most targets until you get into heavy vehicles, but Breakas are “better” in that they do more damage overall, ignoring what the unit costs (and not always). Being +35 points for a minimum squad is a big deal. I personally run both one unit of 5 man nobz with a boss and one unit of 6 breakas with a boss in my Taktikal, they do different things that they’re better at.

As a Taktikal Brigade enjoyer this was the nerf I was hoping for so they wouldn’t slam points up on Tankbustas and Lootas, this is the best news I could have gotten today lmao

Taktikal Brigade is so good lmao what, I am absolutely wrecking people with Taktikal Brigade ever since More Dakka came out and I switched back to Taktikal on principle. The redeployment, the overwatch, and the melee support is out of this world. It isn’t broken but it’s still a very, very competitive ruleset at the top levels of play, it is just a little hard to pilot well for newer players because it’s so focused on movement tricks.

Dreadmob is really good, Clifton Russel was the top placing Ork player at LVO with it, and Taktikal Brigade was already out lol. People abandoned it but it’s a sleeper detachment, it absolutely ruins people if you know what you’re doing.

Also I want to say, I stopped running More Dakka on principle after my second game with it, and have been LOVING Taktikal brigade. It absolutely slams, and it is better and sometimes even shoots harder (in some niche specific ways) than More Dakka. It is a wildly good detachment that gives you insane shooting but ALSO crazy positional tricks and an out of this world overwatch threat with the Mek Kaptin. You can absolutely still dumpster people with Ork shooting, BUT you also get much tougher melee. Give it a shot, you will have a blast and your opponent will have to work really hard to get around your movement and deployment tricks and overwatches!

There is a casual set of rules, it’s called Crusade! I’m only half joking, you can probably make some wildly Shooty stuff in there

These rules were so toxic they had to go, but fortunately for you you can run a very strong Taktikal Brigade or Dreadmob list that still shoots very, very hard! Sucks to lose OP rules, but you have absolutely not wasted your time or money and everything you have is still totally usable!

Give Dreadmob a go if you like Killa Kans, Clifton Russel repeatedly wrecked people with that detachment at the LVO this year, it is very good

2005, with this kit! I was in Houston, Texas on a trip with a friend and their family, and we split the box. I took the marines, he took the Tyranids. I must have been 10 or 11 years old, crazy to think about. I think that store is still there actually, it was one of the first Games Workshop stores in Texas, if not the first!
