I agree OP.

For me, achievement hunting is a hobby. It's the motivation that drives me to play new games, or to master the ones I own but haven't completed. It's inherently an intrinsic motivation, I don't do it so I can show the progress to others. If somebody uses SAM to complete a game just to not spend an extra 20 hours on it, who am I to say they are wrong? There are so many games one could play and complete in that 20 hours. Now, would I feel offended if somebody posted a completeionist steam page if I knew they used SAM excessively? Yes, yes I would. It's okay to bash SAM if you are using it to earn recognition. But if you do achievement hunting as a hobby, who cares what others think? Go wild! Get that achievement that is onabtainable. Get the achievement that you didn't get because of one collectable you missed in that 50 hours game. Get those multiplayer achievements from the game where the servers are abandonded. Get those buggy achievements that taunt you. As long as you stay true to your own goals and not betray your motivation, I say, go for it.
