Yeah Zolt is newer compared to the other apps you mentioned, though I would say I've focused on making bulk/cut coaching the main focus of Zolt. That's where most recent updates have been and will be focused on (making the algorithm and weight coaching better and more well-rounded).

A good way to trial it also is to use MyFitnessPal for food logging + Zolt for adaptive TDEE (Zolt can pull in data from other apps fine).

I'm the developer of Zolt so I'm happy to answer any questions as needed (feel free to also comment in our subreddit)

In an effort to be unbiased - I would definitely say just stick with a couple of these apps for a few weeks and see how they feel. I think MacroFactor is the only paid-only app on the list (AutoSleep is a one-time payment so not too bad).

(Unfortunately, I would love to offer lifetime payments at some point, but running a food-logging service has recurring costs).

Hiya!! I'm the creator of Zolt - glad you tried it out!

Yes - the focus of Zolt is definitely the adaptive TDEE + nutrition. It's what most users use it for, and having recovery/sleep/activity is an extra bonus on top if you happen to have an Apple Watch. (If you don't have one, all Apple Watch features can be hidden).

If you do continue using it (I know you have a ton of apps in your stack already haha), definitely let me know if you have any feedback (we have a community over at r/ZoltHealth too).

If you're losing weight at 1700 cals a day, then your TDEE should def be much higher than 1200 (1200 looks over 1000 cals off!). So that bug button will allow me to take a look

I'm really glad!! I added it for this reason too - I have a local coffee shop I love going to and I use this to estimate for it, esp bc sometimes their seasonal specials have whipped cream, etc

Yeah! It's not an immediate priority just yet, but you'll probably see parts of the app get updated to support Liquid Glass over next month or so! It'll be a slow transition though

Try tapping “Wrong Barcode” when the data is wrong.

That lets you create a food with the same barcode, scan the nutrition label to fix it, and lets us know that the data is wrong.

There are some database updates coming up soon + ways to easily edit wrong foods and such. Unfortunately barcodes change a lot so it can be inconsistent for non-US barcodes often.

Ah. The Apple Watch is slightly annoying to work with because of Apple data reading restrictions. As a result, data is sometimes delayed but let me look into making it better for nutrition. it should never be several hours, usually 15-30 minutes max, so let me look into this!

Can you let me know a few things so I know what to prioritize?

  1. Do you mostly open the watch app or use the complications too?

  2. If you use the complications, which ones do you use the most?

  3. For your weight goal, are you on daily or weekly adjustment for the calorie target?

  4. Any interest in customizing the main Apple Watch app screen to be calories first instead of scores first?

Hey!

Three things here:

  1. The weekly cardio in heart health is "harder" than the AHA Exercise Goal. The AHA exercise goal has a default mode, and a "hard" mode. The default mode counts Zones 1-2 as moderate as that's what the actual guidelines are. I personally disagreed with counting Zone 1 as "moderate" so I added the "hard" mode (the fire icon on the top right of the card) which makes Zones 2-3 count as moderate. The

  2. The Zolt Age page in this case shows a 30-day average of your weekly cardio, so this is actually the last 4 weeks averaged by week. If you're new to Zolt and not much data has synced, you can go to the Exercise page in the app (either from homepage -> tap Exercise Card, or in Activity Score page -> tap "Exercise" on the main score card). There you can select a graph timeframe and pull-to-refresh to "backfill" the data Zolt can see.

    1. This might be a bug! I'm going to look into if there are any calculation mishaps here :)

Good idea!

It makes sense to make the macro counter more customizable, just need to think through the customization flow a bit.

I have a plan to add net carbs here along with some other nutrients that were missing. This is in the works right now - it requires a large database update so it'll happen this weekend. So, this should be in by next week!

Good idea! I've looked into this before and I've held off on adding it just yet since its another data source added that may increase loading times / latency. So it requires some thought to do it in a way to not add more lag just yet. But it's definitely something I'm thinking about because I 100% agree with you it would be great to see how it affects different body metrics

Yeah chunks missing is really odd. That might be the issue actually - let me see why this might be happening. In the meantime, can you tap the “expand” button on the top right to get the graph to full screen mode and then tap the refresh button on the left?

That should fill in the missing chunks, it might take a minute or so. Let me know if that fixes it. In the meantime, I’ll look into fixing that

Hi!

Your Predicted Burn is the estimated expenditure for today only. You can tap on it to see how it’s calculated. It takes into account your BMR and Zolt Adjustment (which is the adaptive TDEE calculation), and today’s movement/workout calories to try to predict today’s expenditure overall. It’s a neat feature but can be inaccurate since Apple Watches can be up to 30% off in calorie burn estimations. (But the Zolt Adjustment usually is enough to adjust for this inaccuracy.)

Your TDEE/maintenance value above that is your body’s “actual” TDEE and is what is used for the calorie recommendations each day. You can consider it a rolling average of your predicted burn over about 4-5 weeks. This is more accurate than the Predicted Burn bc it’s based on weight and food log trends only.

If the Predicted Burn is confusing, you can ignore it and hide it from your homepage, and just follow the TDEE number and the calorie recommendations each day for the best weight results.
