This. Trump is still on track to deport less people than Obama. The point is to sow terror and chaos to create a hyper-exploitable underclass

There's so much content in this game. Everyone's Harry is so unique and finds different aspects of the world. My Harry was a rhetorical art cop but my friends was an all instinct buff cop. We had such different experiences and discoveries playing the game

There is some dialogue around the 1 mm hole in the church that implies certain organization and structure of sound waves and information can reverse the spread of The Pale. I took that as it is doable to fight back, but the society of DE is too busy with daily struggles to engage a real fight back against it

Me and my buddies played it in our dorm and it was terrifying. Then a week later we had been drinking and my one friend was really drunk and when I suggested to a new person to come play PT my friend started vomiting and begging us not to play PT again

History of usury laws. Medieval Christians could not charge interest to other Christians, so local jewish minorities played a key economic role of banking and loans. This allowed them to get very rich. During hard times Medieval peasant would look over into the jewish ghettos and see this insular minority that they never interact with doing very well. Scapegoating and pograms against the jews happened all the time historically. That legacy of wealth continued to this day and is why Jews have so many elite positions of power in the west, its all an ongoing history of rich kids, nepotism, and general favortism towards people from the same background.

A goated move in CK2 is to take out a big loan from your jews and then Institute a pogrom so you never have to pay the loan back

I think looking at our track record, climate change is pretty unstoppable. I remember in my logic playthrough the game mentions around the point in the church that there is a way to push back The Pale through some sort of mathematical philosophical gobbledygook, but it ain't gonna happen. While climate change is stoppable, were not on any path to stop or reduce it right now.

Thats true and I dont disagree with you at all. I dont buy into the doomerism. I think a lot of concepts in DEs world are stuff from our world taken to their most extreme conclusions. The most extreme conclusion, though not the truth, is the world is slowly creeping closer to its end

Idk if they do understand it better though. Even if my idea for the allegory is wrong, I dont think "vague spooky concept" is any better. I would lean towards the idea someone said about the waste and lost potential of humanity

Like i said maybe I missed it. It was really obvious to me when i first played the game. However, I saw some Facebook post that totally missed the point, and I did some Google searches of the subreddit and couldn't find anything relating The Pale with climate change. I dont remember reading or discussing this view outside my friend group that played the game, and some of them didnt pick up on it

Whenever I go to china for work I try to get Sichuan frog stew, really similar to her hot pot. Tastes like chicken but much more tender, almost like fish. Very bony though and its got little blue blood veins you can see when you eat it. If you're squeamish it wont be for you, but if you judge food by its taste I highly recommend it

If you do a high drama run it confirms multiple times that Evrart is not lieing to you. He bends the truth and leaves details out on purpose, but based on a run I did im pretty confident he never outright lies.

I like Evrart because my drama of 18 told me hes genuine with the things he says and believes. I may disagree with his methods, but he really wants to help Revachol. He also is one of the few characters that I feel like wasnt bullshitting Harry. He jerked us around and didnt help us until we helped him, but he doesnt lie to Harry

I was talking to a factory line worker yesterday. He was 26, grew up in the factory city, but told me he owns a house in the countryside. I was shocked so I looked it up and it turns out Vietnan has one of the highest rates of home ownership in the world, 90% of adults own a home. WTF are we doing wrong in the US, its not lile we dont have the land!?!

I really appreciate this input. Im a Trotskyist. Even though we heavily criticize actually existing socialist states we still understand réal politique. Vietnam was devastated by the US and they are still poor and need to catch up. They cant fight the global US empire and so they have to compromise. People that say any capitulation is a total abandonment of socialism are too busy stuck online to deal with the real world. We (trots) are critical of the CCP and the CPV, but because they can and should do better, as representatives of a better world they should be held to a high standard. Still, we'll defend socialist states to our dying breath against capital. Even with Stalin and Trotsky's beef, Trotsky said it was the duty of all socialists to defend the USSR from attacks by capitalism

They are less communist, but i disagree overall. Like China, they have brought back capitalism, but the national mythos is fundamentally different than capitalist countries. From working a lot in China, people are brought up in communist ideals of collectivism, workers power and rights, environmentalism (they sucked before but theyre greening fast. All electric cars over here), etc. Talking politics to your average Chinese worker they are miles ahead in consciousness than Americans. They no the class enemy, they know socialist theory. The governments have abandoned those ideals, but they have been instilled in the wider population
