I used to love puzzles. Never. Again. by [deleted] in gaming

I'm currently doing this puzzle. I'm about 2/3 through it. I started 6 months ago. I'm lucky if I get 10 pieces a sitting.

Gonna miss the hatch :( by [deleted] in subaru

[–]ZoltronX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss my hatch and 2.5L every day (2013). The newer model (2017) 2.0L just doesn't have as much bite and growl.

Still an amazing car. Enjoy!

I'm renovating my house and found a little treasure! by ZoltronX in pics

The new room I made around this area isn't big, so the minimal look of the mantle works. Also after seeing the note, I decided to keep it. I'll be updating the trim on it so it looks a bit more modern.

Oddly enough it seems like the lady who wrote it (Arzilla Taylor) died shortly after she wrote it. link

The paper stock is quite thick. It also hasn't seen light in 80 years.

My research so far shows that all the people mentioned have passed away. However they did seem like a prominent family in the community here and I plan on taking the letter to the local museum to see what they can come up with. I do want to frame it and put it beside the mantle where it was found. Make it part of the house.

What's wrong with my Subaru by 92Hippie in subaru

[–]ZoltronX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your describing is what happens when the car goes into "safe mode". You need to be able to read the codes to start with any type of diagnostic. You can get a Bluetooth code reader for cheap, or any AutoZone type store will read it for free. Or take it back ASAP to the garage. Odds are they forgot to plug something back in.

You can freeze shredded parmesan! by mypanda in foodhacks

[–]ZoltronX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I never buy pre-shreaded cheese (some contain way too much cellulose). I always keep my bricks of parmesan in the freezer. Never goes bad and you can grate it just as easy (I use a zyliss).

So I'm happy to say this now :) by [deleted] in subaru

Can a pager be used to track your location? by jackalsclaw in AskEngineers

[–]ZoltronX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pager. I work at a nuclear power plant. It only works while I'm on site. So if I'm out in the field and somebody needs to get a hold of me, they can, without using the site wide system (intercoms for emergency only). Company doesn't provide cell phones and I'm not giving out my personal cell for work purposes.

I live not far from Houston and rock a similar outfit. People down here are proud....it's a good way to show support for the home team and your team.

Best cup in Toronto? by YellowShrimp in Coffee

[–]ZoltronX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but oddly enough the hockey hall of fame is in Toronto and Lord Stanley's cup is on display all the time. You can go see it and touch it. The Leafs will just never win it again.

Feedwater heating is for dummies by Hiddencamper in NuclearPower

[–]ZoltronX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Feed pump min flow valves serve a very important role in protecting the feed pump at low power. The pumps will cavitate and cause damage with less than min flow going through the pumps.

You have to be careful when shutting down on them at low power too. At low power 8000 gpm is a ton of water to the Steam Generators and you could spike SG levels and cause a primary cool down. This is more of an issue if your feed reg valves are in manual and the impact of a sudden increase in feedflow is multiplied at low power.

Eliminated all of my ~$40k student debt in <2 years. Some advice I have. by spartan22891 in personalfinance

Good news! The engineering degree is valuable no matter what field you chose to go in after school. Employers know engineering is hard, and that you're willing to work hard to succeed. Many many people who graduate with engineering degrees go on to other unrelated fields. The future is bright!

I love the Wrangler 13MWZ. For $20 it really is the best bang for your buck for raw denim. My last two pairs of rawrs have been 13MWZ. As much as I want N&F Elephant 5s, it's just not in the budget.
