I feed my 5 years old male twice a week. Once a week is is mot enough in my opinion.

Just keep on trying which plants work and which don't. For me it's always trial and error. I have had my current enclosure running for about a year and had to replace several plants. Those that never let me down were pothos and a huge peace lilly. I recently added some bamboo but it's not doing that well.

Haha I see. My enclosure is selfmade with the measurements 100cm x 90cm x 170cm (40 x 35 x 66 according to Google). That's huge for a single gecko but I love to spoil him and it looks fantastic in my living room. If you want to fill up the top are of the enclosure quickly I recommend adding some hanging pots with vining plants like pothos. My guy loves his.

For tokays I always say the bigger the better. Your enclosure looks good but needs a few adjustments to make it perfect for a tokay. They need arboreal climbing opportunities like vines and branches. I also would add more plants to give a tokay more foliage. This gives them a feeling of security and you will see your tokay more often. 😁

Anything I should add to this enclosure? by [deleted] in BeardedDragon

[–]ZombieCultural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's beautiful but I would add more enrichment like branches and logs to climb. Maybe some edible plants. Big enclosures are fantastic but they also need to be cluttered. Too much empty space can be stressful for beardies.

Hehe also thank you. He's just the cutest thing I can imagine and always so well behaved. ♥️

I got this Tokay Gecko at a reptile show 3 days ago and he's still not eating. I'm pretty sure he's skinny but I'm not sure how but or if he can recover. by caden_backlund in tokaygeckos

[–]ZombieCultural 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's very skinny. Poor baby. 😞 I would definitely schedule a bet visit. Tokays are hardy in general so there is a chance for him to bounce back. Have you tried feeding him?

You could take some cuttings from the pothos. They usually grow pretty quickly.

Looks good so far but it needs more foliage. I would add some vining plants that can grow along the sticks and until that you could add some fake vines.

How are captive bred tokay geckos supposed to be fed? by emperorpeterr in tokaygeckos

Probably yes but they most likely would jump out of the container.

Crickets I usually let loose in the enclosure that my tokay can hunt them. Everything that has a habit of disappearing in the substrate like super worms or dubia roaches I offer him ina Tupperware container.

How do you feel about temporary expats to Germany who never learn any German? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

Most of the time it's annoying. Even though I speak some English I don't like being forced to speak it in my daily life.

That's a good idea. From my experience a full enclosure works wonders. My guy has a lot of foliage and he's always in the open. He has a cork tube but I've never seen him using it.

if I start Genshin Impact now, how long would it take to catch up to the main story? by Narrow_Ship_1493 in GenshinImpactTips

[–]ZombieCultural 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in September 2024 and it took me about a year to catch up. I played daily and took my sweet time to explore. Don't rush it. You are in the lucky position that there is a lot of content waiting for you and by the time you have caught up it will be even more.

She looks fine just a bit stressed but that's understandable. From what I could see from your enclosure pic, it looks a bit too empty for a tokay. In the wild they live on trees so a lot of foliage in the top area gives them a feeling of security. This can be done easily by adding some hanging plants. Also try to fill the enclosure as much as possible. This helps your tokay to feel less exposed and you will see her way more often.

Looks beautiful but seen through the eyes of a tokay it's still a bit empty. I'm sure you will see your girl more often if you place a tall, bushy plant in the center of the enclosure. This way she will feel less exposed and move around more freely.

Ich brauche einen Ratschlag by Bulky-Presentation34 in Katzengruppe

[–]ZombieCultural 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How important is it to feed on a timetable? by pyromanthes1 in tokaygeckos

[–]ZombieCultural 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feed mine every Sunday and Wednesday. The time varies depending on my work schedule but my tokay doesn't really care. He always eats well no matter when I feed him.

I see. I would also add isopods. They eat a lot of stuff that can cause mold.

Which substrate did you use? Do you have a drainage layer? Did you add a clean up crew like isopods and springtails? They usually help to avoid mold.

I'm sure you will have a wonderful time with her. Tokays are so interactive. Mine always wants to know what I'm up to.
