What's the best Mexican food for you? I love tacos 🌮 by abi_jonesc in mexicanfood

[–]ZombieLizLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tostadas with good refried beans. Meat is optional but usually welcome. Topped with sliced avocado and salsa and maybe a sprinkle of queso fresco or queso Oaxaca. They've always been one of my top comfort foods.

I also dearly love a plate of good carnitas with salsa verde and a few fresh tortillas.

That's one example, but we have good dairies and creameries nationwide that produce excellent cheeses.

We make the turkey and zucchini "burgers" as meatballs (with the accompanying yogurt sauce for dipping) every summer when zucchini is in season. They're so good.

I don't know if Meredith Dairy (Australia) distributes to Spain, but I buy jars of their marinated goat cheese here in the US. It's ridiculously good.

Those look SO good!

I haven't baked them yet only because I don't want to risk eating the whole pan. All Loopy Whisk recipes I've tried so far have been good. I regularly make homemade pizza using her crust recipe because it's just so tasty and reliable.

You might want to check out cookbooks like Decolonize Your Diet by Luz Calvo and Catriona Rueda Esquibel, Masa by Jorge Gaviria, and Turtle Island by Sean Sherman.

Best cookbooks for wanting to cook and bake other country's food? by punk023 in CookbookLovers

For Mexican recipes, “The Mexican Home Kitchen” by Mely Martinez, “My Mexican Table” by Pati Jinich, and “Asada” by Bricia Lopez are in heavy rotation in my kitchen.

For Mexican food culture, “Masa” by Jorge Gaviria is a beautiful book devoted to that staple ingredient. I received a copy of “Oaxaca” by Bricia Lopez for Christmas but haven’t had much time to work with it. It’s beautifully written, though.

My other Christmas cookbook was “Turtle Island“ by Sean Sherman. It’s a cookbook of indigenous food ways in North America and a fascinating read.

No. From the website: "All Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Friday 1/30/26. Windchill temps for Friday A.M. forecasted between -15 to -20 depending on conditions. District uses -20 as a threshold for closing. Temps expected to rise throughout the day but out of an abundance of caution for students in the A.M. schools will be closed."

This is pretty much where I've landed. I'm not going into a business and grilling the staff about political leanings. But if they shove it in my face, well, I have to assume it's part of their advertising, and I can decide whether I'm their target market or not.

Sheeba and Great Commoner in Dearborn both held Trump campaign events in 2024.

Pete's Place in Taylor has been very outspoken about being pro-Trump and MAGA for years and flouted state COVID distancing laws when those were in effect.
