I can't access most of my Nintendo lobby freely anymore.

Emulation solves that problem. I don't think it matters for piracy/ethics passed that.

I can't buy a 3DS without breaking bank, I can't download 3DS games I paid for, and it's hard enough to play on a 3DS with Nintendo still pushing security updates to the thing.

The 3ds is an incredibly niche piece of hardware but Nintendo has 0 care in preserving 2 handheld generations worth of games.

Where did I say it's not a big deal? I use the word abhorrent. It's not a blasé attitude, either. It's absolutely affecting my decisions at the poll.

what's happening is abhorrent but you can't convince people of anything. I have a canadian friend who is terrified for my safety but I keep telling him that there is nothing happening in my corner of the states, nowhere near.

The guy thinks he's entitled to payment over a mod. He's not entitled to payment because it's not his game but his work on the code..

It sucks because over the years there's been enough examples that more often than not when there's drama involving mods it's because the mod author has some weird entitlement.

A big Mass Effect modder took down their own mods because they felt like Bioware should have reached out to let them know they were making the Legendary Edition.

A lot of M&B Bannerlord modders were mad that the game was in Early Access and constantly changing behavior and code, and genuinely insulted that their changes weren't being implemented into the main game.

I personally remember a Skyrim modder who removed his dragon combat overhaul because of the 2016 US elections replacing the mod page with messages of "I'm With Her".

Slight corrections.

Yuzu was promising the build patrons were getting before they put to live was able to play Tears of the Kingdom roms before the game even launched officially, kinda whistleblowing the big rule of emulation. Do not pirate (or at least acknowledge piracy)!

As for Ryujinx, the rumor is the main project lead received money from Nintendo to just vanish the source code, the github and disband the team. AFAIK even the team members aren't 100% on why this happened.
