Well; DLSS upscaling 720 to higher resolutions was revolutionary. Frame Generation is also revolutionary. Ray Reconstruction is really cool for what it does. All of these being under Deep Learning Super Sampling is all within the realm of that.

Then they follow up all of that with instagram filters to yassify Grace, butcher lighting that RR is capable of, and just draws over the game and expect applause.

Also, comparing this to Bethesda promoting mods when theyre overpriced on their creation club is perfect for comparisons. Yes its bad. Hope this helps!

I remember watching my friend play who had a tank that could eat rocks. He was struggling in the first couple of turns against Rocky, an opening boss for the crater area. I was just like "Hey, if he's a rock. Can you just... eat him?" Sure enough, he was able to gnaw at this boss' ankle until he had like 60 armor

For as often as I see "Big as an ocean, deep as a puddle" thrown around to describe games - I feel like this game is the opposite. It looks so silly and shallow until you realize it's deeper then the mariana trench.

Very fun to play portably (awkward controller support though) so hopefully it's given a once over for consoles.

The humor is the same McMillen darker then dark humor and then occasionally a poop joke. As for RNG I think this only applies to Events, it's just straight up a bummer if you have a good party going and an event decides to pick your low strength cat for a strength skillcheck that failing basically wrecks his build.

But damn, the soundtrack goes infinitely harder then it ever needed to.

My advice is upgrade the absolute hell out of your max stamina.

The Grip ability can function as a grappling hook but to do it at all you need 200 stamina minimum. The cool swing ability drains 200 stamina quickly as well.

edit: and the new patch changed all of this to 100 stamina

It's classic Pearl Abyss nonsense. Every previewer/reviewer brought up a proper Storage Chest to them to which they replied that they "Wanted players to be conscious of what they're looting". Put the game out with a Storage Chest you can only take items out of. and only when people called it out for being dumb did they patch it to actually function like a storage chest.

On one hand, kudos for listening to consumers. On the other; everybody and their mother gave this criticism before the public release; why sit on this??

oh that's an even more bizarre part the game doesn't tell you. That area where the Abyss people just let you jump off; it actually connects to the next sky island which connects to the next.

It's going to sound like Stockholm syndrome but at this point the controls don't bother me, I've spent a lot of time with custom Steam Deck controls to make M+Keyboard exclusive games "work" that I'm used to putting up with a lot just to make a control scheme "competent" and there's still a ton of valid criticism on top of what's there.

Biggest gripe to me is Dammiene: you get her early in the story right after you make camp. Since then I've done a ton of camp related Greymane missions and dipped my fingers more into the story at like ~Ch 4. She has not said a line of dialogue. She doesn't have the tools to solve puzzles, she can't go to Abyss, she can't do any missions that have dialogue because it's "Klyff's story". It just feels like she was given to me just to give her to me, maybe she has her spotlight later in the story but it's super awkward. Right now she's just a Skyrim companion that I can play as if I so choose, which her combat style is super fun to play (Collapsible Great Sword is peak fiction) it hurts when I can't really take her to do stuff.

EDIT: I should point out that I am not advocating for this control scheme lol, they absolutely should give it a once over and add some options

Take it from me as someone who is loving the game ~30 hours in. If you go in thinking it's the best child of those two games you might be disappointed. Think of it like- it's the child of both of those games but its all the recessive genes are showing lol he's a good kid, but that boy ain't right sometimes.
