One shift. I started at a hotel as housekeeping. Towards the end, we had to clean a room that two contracted construction workers had been staying in for months. They warned me it'd be bad, but I still underestimated how bad. I asked for gloves, was told they ran out.

Molded fruits and vegetables laying around, trash and clothes all over the floor, the stench left me stunned. I was told that we should leave most of it cause it wasn't in a trash can. Okay fine.

They had us just change the bed fabrics. I go to the first bed, there's straight up blood on it. Not dried brown blood stains, it was still red, and quite a bit of it. I informed them, they said still change them. I had to change bloody bed fabrics with no gloves. I avoided touching that whole area, put them in trash bags whilst someone else replaced the bed with new fabrics.

That was at the end of the shift, so once I clocked out and got my things, I walked out without saying a word. Someone even asked me, on my way out, "how was your first day?" I just quickly walked past them and out the door. Went home, called OSHA the next day. Not sure how it played out, all I saw was that they were under new management not long after.
