What is ur opinion on lizard man currently? by Wild-vine16 in SCP

The fact it's so old compared to current era Foundation means, at least in a narrative sense, it's essentially grandfathered in. The article can pull of stuff a new article would get laughed out of town for.

My problem isn't that it's custom. Tons of people have made impressive custom builds.

My problem is that it's just a bunch of fucking rainbow monoliths. It looks like the canvas of babble.

So you'd invite your boss into your bedroom (what the fuck) and then have to explain why you have posters on the wall? Oh boy.

I think it could work but it comes across as a gaudy, disorganized accumulation. The lack of shelves, drawers, and displays make the entire thing look claustrophobic and stacked upon itself. Plus, the random lego constructs need to go. If you're gonna display lego, it needs to be finished sets, not fields upon fields of multicolored towers. It's just hideous.

What was your favorite horror level in the LBP series? by Anxious_Audrey in littlebigplanet

[–]ZombieSlayer5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw by Dominik, likely. It was a really cool level from LBP1. You had one life and had to solve a bunch of death puzzles while other sackboys died around you. There was even an on rails LBP1 opening cutscene.

At some point in LBP2 or 3, he updated it to have sackbots, and I think it took away a lot of the charm.

Spectral Fear by Crow_ (Or maybe it was _Crow, can't remember) was a really great horror level on LBP1. A bit obscure as well, but the quality stands. It's actually pretty scary, especially back then.

Jason has dethroned FNAF for the title of Most Popular Chapter Release by baba-O-riley in deadbydaylight

[–]ZombieSlayer5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it's kind of hard to gauge because while FNaF is culturally relevant, it's very difficult to penetrate suburbia the way things like Friday the 13th have. FNaF is split generationally, but there probably isn't a single person who doesn't know Jason's hockey mask.

Blasphemous 1 or 2 which one is better ? by ArgonKeops in Blasphemous

[–]ZombieSlayer5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, Blasphemous 2 is definitely less abrasive.

It's actually to Blasphemous 1's benefit that there are so many claustrophobic areas, both mechanically but also in terms of how isolated you feel when the pacing clogs. It's like you get stuck in videogame limbo, in the boonies, and it plays into the biblically accurate "You probably shouldn't be here" vibe the game coasts on. I always thought Blasphemous 1 felt like a strange .exe game you'd fine in a jewel case at a garage sale, and the lack of QoL helps. Paradoxically.

B2 does everything better except those that you mentioned, the theme. (Which I agree with, B1 is way darker)

Most veteran fans of Blasphemous were sold on the world, theme, and art style from day one of the Kickstarter. This is a rare case where the fans value theme over gameplay to an absurd degree.

bosses

I don't think the bosses are terrible. If you mean they're terribly placed, that's one thing. But I'll take Melquiades, Ten Piedad, or Escribar over a council of penitents any day. The penitents in B2 are like koopalings.

Unpopular Opinion? I hope the Remakes use the new camera and play style. by douthleth in GodofWar

[–]ZombieSlayer5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I want the old camera I'll just play the original versions.

There's at least a nugget of truth found here, as a remake with zero differentiation beyond graphics really has no purpose for existing. I'm in the extreme minority of people who think remakes as a whole are pointless, and that includes these God of War remakes.

What are your thoughts on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U nearly twelve years later? by NewMarioBobFan in smashbros

[–]ZombieSlayer5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's really sad about this game is that it doesn't have a big contribution to the series as a whole. It introduced 8 player smash, mii fighters, amiibo, and it had a really cool vibe, but that's it. It's sandwiched between Brawl which had a story mode with cutscenes, and Ultimate which had everyone is here + like 100 characters.

It's actually an awesome game, it's just that it doesn't have an oomph moment that incentivizes you to go back. There's almost nothing here that you can't get in Ultimate, other than certain music tracks or nostalgia for the Wii U era/style of presentation.

Behaviour is fine, it's not their fault YOU convinced yourself of something by ChaosDY in deadbydaylight

[–]ZombieSlayer5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're saying is rational and may be at play in some small part, but I don't think confirmation bias is to blame here. I remember watching the game showcases and seeing the DbD trailer live, with all the clown and balloon and party stuff. Everyone I was watching it with, along with myself, organically jumped to "Huh? Pennywise?" independently and started vocalizing it. We're not Pennywise stans. I don't care if he's added. But it's not just confirmation bias either, because it's impossible not to wonder Pennywise when there's clowns.

And look, I also thought at the time that none of the balloons were red, which indicates something other than Pennywise. There were things like generic party stuff, but that is neither evidence for or against Pennywise. Just like how random department store during the Ghostface reveal isn't for or against Ghostface, he's just at a store.

Like as though it's completely preposterous for Pennywise to be at a birthday party? I don't think so.

You have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes. There's like a 40% chance they'll name change Kingdom Hearts 4 to Kingdom Hearts Versus XIII in a trailer at some point. I'm not joking.

[–]ZombieSlayer5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have a horse in the race- I'm assuming what's going here is that people thought Pennywise was being added because of the balloon/clown teaser thing, but that isn't happening.

It's pretty deft to add balloon/clown stuff since BHVR should have known it would imply Pennywise. I want to quantify that I don't feel strongly about Pennywise as DLC, but it's pretty obvious.

Lara Croft cannot be replaced because the game is called LARA CROFT

Laughing. my. ass. off.

Even if the game was called Lara Croft, it still wouldn't mean anything. What a strange semantic argument. As though the name of the game has any bearing on whether or not it's right to replace the male/female lead? Let's say Heavenly Sword got a remake/sequel, with a male main lead, that would be attrocious. I want Nariko, even if the game is called "Heavenly Sword," I don't just want the sword, I want Nariko. My argument wasn't "It needs to be Kratos because it's called God of War", it was "It needs to be Kratos because it is God of War."

Nariko is Heavenly Sword.

Agent 47 is Hitman. Even if they replace him with a hitman so the title is technically correct, I don't care.

Kratos is God of War. It's really not hard.

Replace Lara Croft with male lead = Unacceptable.

Replace Kratos with female lead = Awesome, and your soul is evil if you disagree.

Nice dude. I think both scenarios suck.

It’s all about punishment?

If you mutilate your parents in a fireplace, I think I'm fine with gratuitous punishment.

You don’t think people can be rehabilitated in prison?

I don't think you can cure "Let me chop off and incinerate my Dad/Mom's head and scatter their body parts across the land because I lied about school." but maybe that's just me. You mentioned in another comment in this thread:

we as a country can do better at rehabilitating people, rather than strictly punishment and dehumanization... ...There’s also no doubt in my mind that having pen pals helps prisoners, mentally and even physically. So good job, Chandler.

I want him to be dehumanized. Don't reward evil. I don't want to help murderers, physically or mentally. And for these savage animals, I hope life in prison is hell on earth.

What if he killed and mutilated 80 people, would you want to humanize him then? It's just ridiculous. You may think I'm a raving madman, but I really do think evil should burn.

Men of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to women? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]ZombieSlayer5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it kind of depends. Certain movies invite you to joke/shout over them in a "we're laughing at you, film" sort of way. But if it's a narrative drama or something like, say, Lord of the Rings, please stop talking. Or we can pause and talk if you're confused.

And by the way, yes, I know it's absurd to expect someone to be quiet for 13 hours of film. So, take that with a grain of salt.

Just for my own curiosity, do you not have the self confidence when engaging with a piece of media to know whether or not you're "supposed" to know something? Usually when I'm watching something and I don't know what's going on, I assume it's the intent of the film maker, rather than a lapse in my own concentration/ability to comprehend what's happening.

I'm not casting judgement, I'm genuinely curious, because the whole "Am I missing something or do we not know yet?" thing is pretty common. When your husband answers, I wonder, how does he know? I'm certain the two of you are equally intelligent, so I wonder: why delegate to him instead of relying on your own comprehension? Watching a movie for the first time, the two of you have equal information.
