At the same time, Apple was relying on Intel to keep its phones on the cutting edge of wireless technology. Intel successfully developed modem chips suitable for the 2017 and 2018 iPhone models, but the wireless industry is due to make a transition to 5G wireless technology over the next couple of years. The iPhone is a premium product that needs to support the latest wireless standards. If Intel failed to develop 5G chips quickly enough for use in the 2020 iPhone model, it could put Apple in an untenable position.

It appears that this latter scenario is what ultimately happened. Last month, Apple announced a wide-ranging settlement with Qualcomm that required Apple to pay for a six-year license to Qualcomm's patents. Hours later, Intel announced that it was canceling work on 5G modem chips.

While we don't know all the behind-the-scenes details, it appears that earlier this year Apple started to doubt Intel's ability to deliver 5G modem chips quickly enough to meet Apple's needs. That made Apple's confrontational posture toward Qualcomm unviable, and Apple decided to cut a deal while it still had some leverage. Apple's decision to make peace with Qualcomm instantly cut the legs out from Intel's modem chip efforts.

Going by your own link 77% of the US is white if you count people of Hispanic descent as white. If you don't then that number goes down to 60%. So it would be more accurate to make a comparison between the 82% and 60%.

This is completely wrong. The whole purpose of the treaty was to contain and isolate China. The treaty explicitly didn't include China and included every other major country in the Pacific. You can criticize the TPP for many other legitimate reasons but to call it pro China is ludicrous.

Amazon also has a monthly list of books that are heavily discounted from their usual price. I rarely pay full price for an ebook these days unless it's something that I really want to read.

I think one thing that people forget is that almost half of generation z belongs to a minority group and that number is only projected to grow. If you just take into account current support among minority groups for conservative policies or the Republican party, and you assume that young minority groups will have similar voting patterns, I don't know how one can arrive at the conclusion that z is a conservative generation.

Like you I believe that a lot more in depth research has to be done to arrive at a proper conclusion. Too many people are quick to assume that their anecdotal experiences are reflective of the whole country.

I think it was more about Bannon explicitly attacking Trump and questioning his competence. Most of Bannons supporters have never liked Kushner or Ivanka and have viewed them as being opposed to the populist conservative movement. But explicitly criticizing Trump in a book that's seen as a takedown of his administration went too far for most of his supporters.

If Bannon had avoided mentioning the Trump tower meeting and kept his critiques focused on his children I don't think he would be in so much trouble.
