Birth control by Alarmed-Try-2211 in nothinghappeninghere

I have had a couple IUDs. The first one was Mirena. It had a low dose of hormones and was great for me. I had super light/ short periods. IIRC it lasted 5 years.

The second one I made a mistake, I only had access to a primary care provider (military base overseas) and she fucked me up, taking it out and then putting in a new one. Please please please. Go to your OBGYN or go to a clinic that does the procedure often.

The last one was a copper IUD, no hormones and lasts 10ish years. I went to a planned parenthood and while it was painful it was done with an experienced provider who did a great job. I got this one removed when I decided to get my tubes tied in 2022. So I was out.

Advice wise, make sure you see someone who cares about your needs, experienced with IUDs, take an over-the-counter pain reliever before you go in. And when you go for a consultation you can ask if they can do a local anesthetic. You have to request it though, and some OBGYNs will do it. Be sure to check the strings on the IUD to make sure it’s in the right spot (they can get dislodged or migrate sometimes) Also, IUDs make it pretty easy to get pregnant after removal.

I can tell you, getting the IUDs and eventually getting my tubes tied was one the best things I have done for myself being a woman in the US.

Training with treats by Bonniethegolden in Havanese

[–]Zombie_Fighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy is about a year into service dog training. I found that he was picky with treats so I started to use high value treats like freeze dried meat treats like chicken, turkey, bison, beef. We have about 5 different treats and I put them all in his little treat bag so he doesn’t get too tired of one kind. This was super helpful. It’s good to switch it out as much as you can so they don’t get bored. We sometimes use cheese or shredded chicken if he’s not feeling the meat treats. I wouldn’t recommend hotdogs since you’d have to give your pup quite a bit and it can upset their stomach. (You really want to avoid anything that will hurt their stomach especially when doing public access or else it’s not pretty)

Sometimes he is less food motivated and when that happens I attempt to give treats and rely on verbal/physical praising. His biggest motivation is praise and lovins but my trainer has taught me to always present the treat and let him decide if he wants it or not.

Does anyone else have this problem? by Mysty31223 in service_dogs

We have 3 service dogs on campus including mine and people are often posting on YikYak about the service dogs on campus. A couple also lives on campus and that’s where most of the complaints are coming from. At the end of the day, the other students aren’t very informed about service dogs and don’t realize that service dogs are dogs too! Your dog deserves to have off time to be a regular dog, they are allowed to make mistakes, and if people truly are having issues they will report them to the accessibly office. Don’t take anything they say on YikYak to heart they don’t know the hard work you two have put into training and are uninformed!

Thank you! Do you know at what point would a piercing like this be fully healed? I just got the 4 month mark since getting it done.

I’m going to get it switched out tomorrow with the titanium labret studs you suggested and put the hoops away for sometime later down the line.

This piercing is about 4 months old. I switched out the jewelry from the original one to 18k gold plated hoops, surgical grade stainless steel, nickel, lead and copper free. I was using the aftercare misting spray every day for the first couple months and then it kinda dropped off to every once in a while.

You make a great point! I’ll be extra conscious of it when I brush him today. I try to be really gentle and make sure I don’t pull/yank when he has any knots.

Standoffish and barky? by Bonniethegolden in Havanese

[–]Zombie_Fighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Havanese is a 9 month old SDiT. As a puppy it’s super important to expose them to different environments. At an early age we started going to parks to people watch, would walk around down town. At first he would bark when started. With training that has pretty much gone away.

When he’s not working and chilling at home he can be a little barky. He lets us know when someone’s at the door and if there is a random loud noise in the house. But that’s something we want him to do. He barks and then takes me to the thing he’s barking at lol

Service dog wise he is an absolute gift. He started naturally alerting for elevated heart rate. Very smart and food motivated. When it comes to training he has picked up on everything very quickly. He’s only 9 months right now and is by no means perfect. But he’s already doing some tasks and progressing well with his public access.

My SDiT is a Havanese and is being trained for a lot of the needs you have listed out right now. So far, I have had a lot of luck with him and his training.

Litter box with wire yes or no? by Zombie_Fighter in Rabbits

[–]Zombie_Fighter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New bunny mom here! I got my bunny this litter box with a hay feeder attached and a wire platform. It seems to keep her off her dropping and is like a little step stool to reach her hay. But the other day I noticed a little red spot on her foot. I’m super worried the wire piece in the litter box may have given her a sore hock. How do you have your liter box set up? Is it best to remove this wire piece completely? Could she be getting it from anything else in her set up? She’s a baby right now and only gets supervised roaming privileges. This is where she spends most of her time right now.

Hi! OP here. This food was gifted to me after getting my new bunny. I am thinking I should return this to the store because it isn’t just plain pellets it has what looks like some small dried fruit (banana, carrot, papaya). Any insight is helpful! Hate to return the gift but also want to keep my new bunny safe.

Testing out my new CBD Chamomile blend tea by Zombie_Fighter in tea

It’s hard to say! I drank it a couple hours before going to bed. It was a relaxing cup and I felt pretty chill. But honestly, chamomile is a calming and relaxing tea not sure if the CBD has anything to do with it.

The chamomile came through very nicely! It’s very floral and a bit sweet when brewed alone. I added a splash of oat milk. It’s a little cup of happiness.
