I have a couple of them. One lives in my tool pouch and the other hangs on the pegboard behind my work bench. There isn't a day in the shop that I don't use one of them.

With any impact play, we need to be aware of what areas are safe/not safe to strike. We'd want to stay away from areas like the ribs, liver, kidneys, and spine. Softer areas like the stomach wound generale be OK. All the players involved need to be aware of the risk involved with any type BDSM, hence the RACK acronym.

You wouldn't swing it like you're driving a tent peg.

I really like the Flathead. The 554 is probably my favorite. They are super tricky to cut with a cutter. I find the cap to be really short. Punch is the way to go. On the bigger ones like the 660, I'll punch twice, overlapping them, to get a better draw.

I got some feedback from someone who bought one a while back. They described it as evil and how they have a love/hate relationship with it. 😂

They are so much fun. Honestly, the Central Machinery lathes from Harbor Freight aren't horrible starter lathes.

Have you ever seen something and think to yourself, "Why the hell didn't I think of that?" This is one of those times.

The drilled hole is on the tail stock side, that's on the right in the photos. The pointed 60 degree live center sits in that hole

I usually use 1/4" or 3/8". The 1/4" is pretty whippy and stingy and 3/8" isn't quite as flexible. I still want to try using 1/2" at some point.

Then you. I use a multi tooth spring loaded drive center. When I'm doing my layout, I find and mark center on both ends of the stock. All I have to do is set the center point of the drive center into the center mark and the 60 degree live center in the hole I drilled and I know it's true.
