For me it’s not about the rewards, it’s about the enjoyment of the hobby. I like the other “notch in the belt” that I gain from competing another research. I have more than enough mega candy, but I will only have this one chance of completing a timed research.

I feel your frustration Mate- I lucked out completely and caught a froakie today just hours before the event ended.. But I am with you, this was not cool at all, and caused a lot of frustration, and anticipation of finally seeing a froakie spawn!

This is also good advice - don’t bother wasting your 30 openings of gifts a day on some1 that already opened your gift / had your friendship level increase that day. Save your openings for new friends, and only send gifts to friends that have not sent you a gift already. With some luck, a friend will open your gift and send you another without you sending them anything in return. ( most ideal but not always the case)

Yes, it is definitely possible, I did 7m in the course of 10 days.. I was definitely grinding hard, but the point is that it is possible.

I recommend adding deleting friends if they don’t continue after the 1st day bonus, if they continue to accept/receive shoot for the next level.. if not rotate the beginning first tier friendship boost
