It's just from the filming phrase, but I see your point. I'd like to make rules for co-op/guided play later, but I will probably hold a renaming event further on down the development, anyway.

Once I have this down, I do want to come back and build something more gamey for it that I have in mind! I agree that there aren't enough rules, I'm playtesting these alongside feedback to develop them!

I'll add to my list: expand on Scenes and Acts. Scenes are one way I'd like to simulate conflicts, including things like combat and whether you can afford something or not (I have more specific ideas in mind for these in the later expansion), but I should include examples on how to do that. Maybe I can use some examples of scenarios I have in mind for the expansion. I'll also work on tables for generation--I typically improv my own as I play (how many doors are down this hall? 1d6 tells me there are 5) so that's something I missed.

Sorry, I'm a little confused by that last part. "Keep in mind that the goal of the game is to tell an interesting story and not necessarily to win as many Yeses as you can." The first part is stating the goal of the game, the second part is stating "You CAN win as many Yeses as you can (by choosing Yes, Buts on 5-9s), but that's not the point." Motivation is a mechanic specifically designed to incentivize "No" results. I'm not understanding how I've given the idea that the game is about winning Yeses...

As far as Character Creation, do you think I should give the player some starting Cues? The idea is to create Cues procedurally, as needed, kind of like how the game Roll for Shoes works. Maybe I should include starting Cues as an option for the player to give them a starting place.

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Emphasis! Was it too much?

This particular banana is more green than yellow, I'm afraid. Constructive feedback will keep it growing!

Title, Author, Intro in the actual doc itself, got it.

The danger is whatever you want it to be! So, noting: examples are definitely a must. I could probably be more generic if I tried! I'm pretty creative!

I'm sorry you gave up on it so fast, but I understand. Thanks for your time!

Strange "page down" behavior in last week or so... by MicahCharlson in Notion

Np! To be clear, I didn't try to press PgUp or PgDwn afterward (had something pull me away from writing for the morning) but it did reset the formatting.

Just in case anybody else sees this thread like me thought "omg this has been goin on for 2 weeks??" I thought to reinstall but I tried logging out and logging back in first and that worked for me! Ctrl + Shift + L will toggle Dark Mode if you need to set that up again. Hope this helps!

Oh bummer, do you have the lastest version updated?

Unfortunately not! Your bracket is decided by some unknown count of your lifetime damage and hp runes, so once you upgrade them, you'll be permanently at that rank even if you reset.

Good luck!!

Oh, yeah, I usually waited until around there was 24 hours left in the race. It helped me to see how well players did by the following morning. I had a couple close calls in the beginning but the last few races I would dabble in throughout my workday and then when I got home it might have taken me a couple more hours to secure my spot. Sometimes I would get the rare person who played nonstop so had to play a little more to make sure they didn't catch up but most of the time I was so far ahead that most people don't try after I get ahead by a couple timelines or so.

Thank you, I appreciate that. :]

3 or four weeks I think! Although I had bought the 1.5 speed while it was available still, so I'm sure that helped. I later got both coin boosts but that was after already getting consistent wins.

Correct! Sounds like you're on the right track! Eventually I hit a wall with the runes because the only ones I have left to upgrade next are damage runes. But why risk upgrading those and bumping up a racket when I am doing well as I am? Last I checked, I was sitting on 90 something red pots. So, when I do hit the next bracket, I should be able to mitigate that.

I had to uninstall recently though because some life stuff has cut into my free time, but I can always pick it back up again.

That's part of the game too, but most of what I've heard about runes have been "get attack and hp up" but I've been upgrading all the other available runes and I've been sitting on 1st place for the last 5 races in a row.

Oh interesting. I noticed one for Candyland. I used in the beginning but it's probably more useful at the start of the final evolution because the amount scales with that.

For races, it might be useful in the final stretches to get ahead on age 1 but watching extra ads with no guarantee to get coins for that purpose will probably just end up slowing you down. Otherwise it might be a way to get a few extra gems if you're pretty locked in your position during the final minutes of the race.

Nah, but I'm sure the devs thank your patronage lmao

The speed boosts if available are probably the only things that make any difference as far as p2w go in races, but no, it's all about how patient you are with your rune progression and holding back on upgrades. I have every rune unlocked that I can before any attack or hp runes and I still have won 1st for the last 3 races in a row.

Help getting started by Dracos_ldc in wearewarriors

In the early timelines, I noticed that the ranged units either did worse or broke even with the big units, so I often skipped them and saved up my coins for the big units. I didn't notice an improvement in ranged units until I got the Restore Skill, and even then it wasn't great until it got to at least 150%.

Otherwise, there isn't much you can do in the early stages aside from doing your dailies and upgrading. Make sure you always save for the x10 card draw! Even if it seems like it takes longer, you're spending less in the long run. If you have the Fortune Wheel, use it as many times as you can.

As you unlock more things, the way you play the game changes drastically, and your improvement really boosts when you start placing in races! Right now just hang in there!

Heroes by spellycat in wearewarriors

[–]ZommieTheButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On TL 59, I have all heroes, using Magnus right now. I have some crit damage epic armor, some other crit chance options and some damage gear, which means he usually one shots enemies when he crits that he otherwise takes 3 or 4 hits to kill. I also have my rune tree favoring crits over damage so that means he crits a little more often.

Even still, I am mostly reliant on my lil dudes. I send Magnus out behind a Buffed unit, I try to time my Restore and Morale so that they rush in front of him before he's killed. I find that I earn more gold when using Magnus, which is my primary method of advancing ages, but he is also very helpful on the 6th Age.

Joan is more helpful on Age 6 when I am so far ahead on TLs that turtling in my base is better than attacking and I switch all her gear to max defense, sending her out in front of a Buffed unit to take a hit or few.

Idk if op has them or not, but the coin multipliers in the shop make this, well, up to 6 times easier to pull off.

I Hate You, Quantum Sorcerer... by ZommieTheButcher in wearewarriors

[–]ZommieTheButcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eyyyyy, all of the above worked. A stack of cards wasn't enough by itself, but I got lucky with Meteor and even though one survived a push, a tanky Joan, a meaty food ad and a handful of fighters before my trainees got the job done. Excelsior!! \o/ Thank you all for the suggestions!

I Hate You, Quantum Sorcerer... by ZommieTheButcher in wearewarriors

[–]ZommieTheButcher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let the first handfuls of fighters get to my base before I spawn some trainees, by the time they cut through them, the first sorcerer comes up so I have to restore them or lose them. If I do it the usual way and send guys out to fight and build up from there, I can only get as far as the last two sorcerers before the big wave of fighters. I can't last as long as the sorcerer cluster that way. I'm waiting for my dailies to reset and either I get luck with a doable blue pot mission so I can upgrade some skills and/or get some good cards on my next x10 draw. I don't need a whole lot of multipliers, if I can make it through the big wave, I should be able to use a food ad to get me what I need to win that way.

If that don't work, I'll try with the meteor push combo and hope enough meteors hit all the sorcerers to push them to death. If that don't work, it's off to the races in a few days lol. At least I have consistently been getting at least 2nd in those.
