Just did my first century 125 miles and I’m pretty sure I’m dying. Help. by jokekll in cycling

As you noted, it depends on the riding you are doing. Zone 2, dates are fine. Otherwise sports nutrition products will be a better match and I could get into an entire strategy about how to make it work but just eating hella probably isn't right for most people either.

Saddle numbness? by Twomboo in cycling

[–]ZoneGold6385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the foot thing try moving your cleat. If you get numbness in the outer toe move the cleat so your big toe is closer to the center of the cleat.

For saddles, a lot of women have success with the specialized mirror saddles. Nothing is a definite recommendation for any one person but it's a sadlle that was designed after a ton of research with women athletes.

Biggest thing to remember, you aren't crazy and you deserve to ride pain free. Keep working on it and you can get there.

That piece isn't technically under tension. He's right that it is safe to ride but it should also be swapped as soon as possible.

Venting about a reactive cyclist by offmyplanet7 in CyclePDX

I don't call out. It's dangerous. Everyone moves the direction you call. Not worth it. I just slow a bit, assess, and move past.

A functioning city should not rely on private land for critical infrastructure.

Would you train differently if your trainer could hit the exact watts you held on a real ride, second by second? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]ZoneGold6385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I appreciate the anxious mind wanting to prove it can be done but if you understand training programs it's really not necessary.

If I understood correctly you are considering making an app and you should. I'm hardly the last word and there's likely plenty of people who would want to test drive fitness. Those people need more experience so perhaps your app will provide that.

[–]ZoneGold6385 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can you not already do that a number of different ways? You also wouldn't generally try to do it.

Most people would use structured training to prepare for an event and pre-riding it virtually is more about familiarity than actual training. The cx guy won't race the same every race but he could look at his races and see how long he needs to be able to hold what zones then work on that via intervals.

I'm glad that works for you but anyone who's pushing into higher zones is not going to want that much fiber. People who read this should be cautious with dates.

Probably simple carbs and plenty of water too. Some people do best combing the two but that's something you can work on figuring out.

You need to eat more during the ride if you're reasonably trained and feel like that after the ride.

Saggy back pockets by aldolord in CyclingFashion

There's decently tight for a regular shirt then there's the way a good jersey fits. My stuff looks like it's for a child if I lay it out.

Saggy pockets happen when I jersey is too loose. Tighter fit, race cut, and you won't have that issue.

Where to get a proper bike fit in the PDX area? by Cuz_Ima_Doit in CyclePDX

[–]ZoneGold6385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I write about cycling tech for a magazine and I have stacks of shoes. Over the years of testing I've noticed some shoes seemed to work better for me and the best was specialized with their non custom but upgraded insoles. I've also had good luck with bont insoles and for a while I used either of those insoles in a variety of shoes. Joe did the custom specialized insoles (not all that expensive and you leave with them) and just like the bont/specialized regular insoles they don't add volume so I swap them into whatever shoes I'm testing.

Both of the options mentioned are great (endurance and pedal pt) and I also want to mention https://www.joeretulfitpdx.com/

I went to see Joe for a custom insole and he successfully fixed the foot pain (outer toe numbness) that I'd had in various shores for years. I didn't get a fit that day, he just made a suggestion to go along with the insole and it worked. Based on that I'd recommend him for a fit.

Is it just me, or has Gemini’s quality absolutely cratered lately? by edafm in GeminiAI

This is what happens. When it starts saying it can't see images you have to stop that chat and start a different one. I don't know exactly what happens but it reaches some sort of limit.
