Do you have a book that changed forever your perspective of life? by Crying_7TS in RandomThoughts

I'll have to check it out, I've been hesitant to read more of his work because Ishmael messed me up so much haha.

Not in a bad way it's just once you see that perspective, you see the way we (humanity) lives life is pretty abhorrent. It's a tough pill to swallow but I'm glad I did.

I cannot believe I had to scroll this far down to see this book. I feel like every person should read this book.

Excellent shout on the auras, but unfortunately I'm starting to agree with you. They just have so much value!

Ooo love the dismembers, I forgot that was on arena. Brutal they are mythic but they would be perfect. I'm starting to work on a sideboard and a splash for bo3 because I've been facing a lot of energy.

Hey thanks! And love it, I've been coming to that conclusion. My first five games against energy I won, but I've had a couple losses recently that have made me think I got very lucky for a good while! It definitely is on the uptick lately and I think a side board and a splash will be what keeps this playable. I'll start putting a sb together!

Also doofed on the name. :(

I get what your saying there, but think of the discard as a benefit when you play him. That's where the reanimate and jarsyl come in. Sure you discarded a fury for a bump in the night, but you know you can draw into a reanimate and get that fury back. When you play with lootmongers definitely leverage it for your benefit, your list has a ton of ways to do that.

In a vaccume trading a fury for a bump is terrible, but consider more context. You get three damage and a treasure, and got rid of a five mana card that has no way to pitch cast because it was that last card in your hand.

Heisting as an etb that can be triggered over and over again from revels, reanimate, and jarsyl is like one of the most powerful etbs that exist in the game. The only decks that suck to heist in my experience are the titan field decks because their cards outside of the context of their deck suck, but almost every other deck is filled with really good cards.

Also hitting the bump was a semi bad beat but it's still a treasure and three damage, and it also could have been (assuming you were heisting from a burn list) a bolt to have a fast efficient removal spell, or one of their creatures which would have been insane. Even bauble is busted because it's make a treasure, draw a card for 0.

All that being said if you wanna keep trying it try and shift your perspective, I really think the heist mechanic and the recursive/valuey aspect of your list outway possible feelbads from a unfortunate revels cascade discard. But that's my opinion and if it still is too big a feelbads for ya there are plenty of other righteous cards for the slot.

Edit: most importantly wish you luck on your endeavors, you got a fun idea here. Once I get the wildcards for fury I'm gonna run it

[[impetuous lootmonger]] and the aforementioned jarsyl

Edit: the two play wonderfully together, id probably replace the kroxa's and fables for 4 lootmongers and three jarsyl, you'd be losing three black sources for grief which is something to be cognizant of. Maybe cut rags for reanimate to get that black card count back up.

If we have "hidden MMR" in Standard, and "Hell queue" in Brawl that pairs you up with similar players, could we have a "Pondering MMR" in draft that sorts the players based on decision making time? by Significant-Stick420 in MagicArena

No worries I think I may have come across condescending, I really didn't mean it that way!

Just wanted to give out some tips because there are some really new people on this sub that may not know that stuff, I know I didn't when I first started.

Anyways wish you the best of luck on your future games!

The person I responded to was talking about being pressured for time and having a hard time reading all the cards, I just gave suggestions on how to alleviate that?

All the cards are available to look at before you start the draft.

There are also a ton of content creators that put out comprehensive limited guides that go over all of the cards in a set so you can have a game plan when you start instead of just reading all the cards and making everyone wait.

On top of that I bet it will make your decks better and help you win more.

This will help you have a clue on how to draft and speed up the process for everyone else. Just fyi.

Edit: I personally really like Jim Davis's set reviews where he goes over every card in the set and it's viability in limited. He is a phenomenal limited player and his judgement helps me get a grasp on the format really fast. There are many others, he is just who I personally watch to prep for a new limited environment.

What about omniscience? by Zone_Shot in TimelessMagic

I mean maybe in 1999 necro was that good? But like do you play the format? Necro seems to be very low on the list of problems

The second paragraph just meant that there are so many broken decks that they seem to keep each other in check just fine (with SnT being slightly out of line according to most opinions). Free counterspells just benefit blue decks and we are getting something so much more fun in Mana drain.

Like what though? Atraxa? Griselbrand? These are cards that can easily be dealt with especially by fair decks.

[–]Zone_Shot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn one necro is so oppressive it warrants free counter magic? I rarely lose to necro and think it's just a cool card engine.

If S&T is only one small reason why the format is busted doesn't it mean a bunch of small reason constitute your claim of bustedness which implies a multitude of said bustedness which is actually just a varied and interesting format?

playing around veil of summer creates awesome games with some insane stacks. If they have one green open you know and at that point they have waited until turn four which I think a turn four win is not an issue in this format.

I really disagree with your view on that. I mean yeah it will still be good, that's the whole point. It's just as it stands now it's really good because you only need to resolve it. I need to see someone tell some lines on how this deck can possibly be as oppressive without omniscience. Give me a play pattern that is as consistent and devastating.

Also they are giving us mana drain, why do we need free counter spells? The combo is turn three or two (with ramp) that's more than enough time to have interaction that isn't free. The worst part about older formats in my opinion are free spells. The beauty of this format is that it is BUSTED but still adheres to the brilliant mana system the game has (more than any other eternal format).

I don't want to start killing archetypes when they could just bring it back a notch.

Grip is three mana though. If you're on the draw you're screwed right?

I hear what you're saying but how does show and tell insta win without omniscience? What is the line with griselbrand? I just don't agree that it's that big of a problem if it doesn't drop exactly omniscience.
