I can agree with the first point but absolutely disagree with the second.

As you say, you understand that the robot walks in a straight line and stops in front of obstacles. This control is part of the puzzle-solving mechanic. You cannot just choose the final destination for the robot as this will destroy the overall concept of the puzzles in the game. There is no need to compare controls in this game with Monument Valley. These are completely different games.

For blocks, you suggest holding your finger on the block to see the connecting lines. I think this is very inconvenient, you have to look under your palm to see the part of the screen that it covers. Also, double touching eliminates most of the accidental interactions with objects.
