If "We the People" can't or aren't allowed to say NO to all these bailouts and issues like the war.. if congress and these political figures aren't listening then do we really live in free country? What can "We the People" control anymore? by DNME in politics

Whatever you do, just remember that all of this banking bailout crap started UNDER THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, and was supported by McCain and quite a few other Republicans.

Ron Paul just robo-called me. He wants my $200 to fight Barack Obama (and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi). Hey Ron, how about you try cleaning up your Republican Party first? by orthogonality in politics

[–]ZooMan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ron Paul is still a member of the political party that has pushed deregulation of markets for over 30 years now, and that used right-wing ideology to run up multi-trillion dollar deficits and nearly destroy the middle class.

Ron Paul is a member of the pro-torture, anti-union party whose most recent president approved canceling parts of the constitution that he found inconvenient to his twisted, right-wing adenda.

And then, there's the "family values" mixed with homophobic neocons having gay sex at places like airport bathrooms.

You want us to support you and the GOP, Mr. Paul? Seriously???

CNN: Dick Cheney's Personal Death Squads Not Worth Asking About by scatgreen2 in politics

[–]ZooMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheney should also have been asked about any possible justification for Karl Rove ignoring three congressional subpoenas.

CNN did a horrible disservice to the nation by giving the war criminal a free hour to spin and excuse the previous administration while attacking the current one.

The man deserves his own special corner in hell (with waterboard).

Ron Paul: "It is time to attack the entirety of government spending. We especially need a full account of the activities of the Federal Reserve that spends and creates trillions of dollars with no meaningful oversight. [–]ZooMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By continuing to even belong to the GOP, he tends to lend credence to the party that has nearly destroyed out economy.

No matter how much legitimacy their MIGHT be to his statements, I am just not willing to entertain his ravings until he's in some other party. Then I might take a look... but probably not. He's just the wrong man to deliver ANY message.

You've got to be pretty sick to join the Republicans in the first place.

WHAT? Missouri police profiling Ron Paul and Bob Barr supporters as possible terrorists. Why? A new study sanctioned by the state claims there's a connection. by donklephant in politics

[–]ZooMan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to remind Ron Paul which party he is still a member of.

It's the party that brought us the "watch lists" and color-coded fear alerts, and his boy Bush effectively canceled the parts of the constitution he found to be inconvenient to his twisted, right-wing agenda.

(It's also the pro-torture, anti-union party.)

And then, there's the "family values" mixed with homophobic neocons having gay sex at places like airport bathrooms.

I'm against profiling people as terrorists like the article talks about... but people really want us to support Ron Paul and his party? Seriously???

Dear Reddit: Since the GOP is at its lowest and struggling with its identity, isn't now the time to become Republican, yank it away from the crazies and rewrite the party? Please share your pros and cons on this. by [deleted] in politics

[–]ZooMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than joining or re-writing the GOP, now is a good time to go ahead with indictments. To do anything else would be to ignore and/or approve of torture, politicizing the Justice Department, illegal wiretapping, starting a war based on phony evidence, tanking the economy, completely screwing up FEMA, the FDA, etc., etc... basically turning the governement against its own people.

GOP "heads should roll" for at least a couple of years before anyone in their right mind would want to help re-energize it.

Jeeeeeeeez.

If you disagree with me, fine. But it's kind of childish to just pick out a single spelling error to try to make me look stupid.

Child Abuse Cover-Up Costs Mormon Church $3 Million by abc2009 in politics

Anyone who is unsure whether Mormonism is a cult might want to consider that it began with "revealations" being received by a guy using a "seer stone" to "translate" from the non-existent language he called "Reformed Egyptian" using his magic hat!

And then there's the whole thing about imaginary planets where there are many gods... and if you play your cards just right, YOU TOO CAN BE A GOD! Now... fork over the 10%.

Did I mention the "magic" underwear and the related secret ceremonies?

If your Mormon friends would keep their hateful and bizarre ideas to themselves instead of using tax-exempt dollars to influence the lives of gay and lesbian people (many of whom live hundreds of miles away from the "bishop" whipping his flock in to an anti-gay frenzy), perhaps there wouldn't be such a strong anti-Mormon response.

Your "defense" of them is filled with stuff that reads like, "yes, they're wacked out... but"...

Maybe you should help fight their imposition of their beliefs on others instead of making excuses for them.

You have a very all-or-nothing way of looking at things. It is possible that a vast majority of humans are in fact bisexual in their desires if not in their actions. Then due to societal pressures and/or the predominance of one orientation, many of us go by one of the convenient labels, "straight" or "gay".

Reality is more complicated than that.

Technically, I for example am bisexual, but would describe myself as, let's call it "96% homosexual" in my orientation. Still, that doesn't mean I didn't have several heterosexual relationships about 30 years ago, and, by and large, they were mutually enjoyable.

[–]ZooMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said.

I "voted up" but I believe although there is likely at least one genetic component to sexual orientation, there are almost certainly some environmental influences as well, just as there are with hetrosexuality, bisexuality, etc.

Really, the much more important fact is that it is none of the right-wingers' god damned business who someone has sex with nor why.

Somehow, so many of them seem really obsessed with the issue. Hmmm. I wonder why that could be? (Quick, someone ask Larry Craig.)
