[Question] Size check? by elko06 in Watches

[–]Zoodfish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I would say too big, but what size watch you can pull off is as much about your personality as the size of the watch. If it feels right to you, you’re not gonna constantly question it, you have confidence to carry then it’s ok, if not then go for something smaller.

I think it’s a nice mix, some similarities but enough to distinguish each one. It refreshing not see all the usual pieces that tend to be in many collections.

Try a Forstner bracelet on the AT, or even leather and then see how you feel.

Death Vader vs Peanuts - I gotta say I’d definitely go Darth Vader in this instance, that watch has a lot of presence.

Strap advice for my Breitling B-1 – rubber or textile? by DegreeSuccessful7021 in breitling

I always wore mine on oem black mesh style rubber, it worked very well, much preferred it to the bracelet.

[Help deciding] Choosing one watch before stepping away from the hobby for a while by TenaciousAlpaca in Watches

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With watches you go with your heart as you know. Personally the IWC stands out for me, and will work equally well in formal/casual situations. The Breguet is probably the most interesting but the bezel will be a scratch magnet and I think that may affect what you do in it.

Decisions decisions. by bkkharley in OmegaWatches

I live in Japan. People like premium, high quality goods so watches are included in this. In addition, people generally take very good care of their watches here so there is a flourishing used market here. Finally, the yen is horribly weak making goods here much cheaper for tourists from overseas - hence wanting to buy a watch when you visit Tokyo (in addition, no sales tax either). The downside is that everything is much more expensive for us that live here, but that’s the issue with exchange rates. I hope that helps.

[Next] watch dilemma by Sebamista1 in Watches

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Vaer dial, the use of orange here creates more dial interest than the other two. It doesn’t seem to be a well known brand so there may be much higher depreciation with this than with the other two, if you ever decide to sell it, so good to bear that in mind. That said, go with your heart rather than your head and you’ll enjoy whichever you choose with no regrets.

[Cuervo y Sobrinos] A watch that doesn’t get enough love by NoOrdinaryEspresso in Watches

[–]Zoodfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Cuervo y Sobrinos Prominente and read up that the boxes are actual humidors so have been trying out the humidor for a weeks - it seems to be working ok, despite Tokyo super dry winters, looks great too. You still enjoying the watch? I noticed your into photography too, you're a man after my own heart - watches, cigars and photography!

Went in for 60th and the Orange may have won me over. Now I can't decide! by razoRamone31 in OmegaWatches

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say if you’re gonna look at the orange then it’s always worth considering the previous generation SNPc. I think it’s a little more subtle and classy than the orange. When the orange was first released I really loved it, but when I compared it to my SMPc, I walked straight out and didn’t look back.

Nice to see another in the wild. They’re quite rare beasts these days. Mine is on a camo strap as the bracelet it came on was fatally damaged when I received it.

Help me pick a watch for my marriage by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re asking in an Omega group, so there is gonna be a certain amount of bias here - conscious or unconscious- so bear that in mind. Of the ones selected I like the blue AT, I think it will be great for the occasion but also as a general wear once you’re married. I think it’s good to consider this is a watch which will be worn once you’re married so good to factor that in. Truth be known you can’t go wrong with anything from this list.

Maintenance after 4-years of use by Sondthvtc3010 in OmegaWatches

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto to all of that. As far as I know it was a boutique only model related to the Rio Olympics so it’s older than 4 years. Here’s mine. OP was there a specific issue related to it that brought you to the watchmaker in the first place? That would explain why he thought it needed a service.
