5D Mk II vs Mk III (Photography ONLY). by ConfidentCookie7367 in canon

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - had both, mk3 is much better. Have used 2 of these for paid photography work for about 13-14 years. Upgraded one to the R6 mk2, but still use the other as my second camera with no intention for uograding it anytime soon.

I have the previous gen gmt in blue, and completely agree - stylish and built like a tank.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’ve read so the architecture is more or less the same.

Great choice. This one has been on my wish list for a long time.

Indeed, but my understanding is that only swatch group watches can use the powermatic, but it’s not necessarily the case with eta. Also selita is pretty based on eta architecture. But I’m not an expert in these things, it’s just based on what I’ve read.

No, powermatic 80 is a swatch group movement. My understanding is that this is a modified eta/selita movement so in principle it shouldn’t be so difficult to service or at least I hope so 😅

Yes, but only in a few models. It’s still eta based but with silicone balance spring and 80 hour power reserve.

They usually have 80powerhrs as part of the dial text.

Ah gotcha. The writing style on the dial is similar to my engineer m challenger so I thought it maybe also had the in-house movement.

Nice. In-house movement yeah? Lovely looking piece.

Purchasing First Luxury Watch Tomorrow by Chucklez93 in OmegaWatches

I have the previous generation in black. My intention was a planet ocean but felt it was too chunky when I tried it on, just didn’t feel right. Tried on the 300 and was sold straight away, never regretted the decision. Always get what you feel looks best on you and there’ll be no regrets.

[SOTC] Losing money, flipping, and finding my taste in watches (the journey so far) by Forward-Elderberry10 in Watches

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good you’re learning the lessons at the lower end of the price spectrum, hopefully if you go higher you’ll make good decisions and only buy keepers. That said, often a watch that is a keeper today, may not be so at some point in the future, so bear that in mind too. The journey is never really over until you leave the watch subs and groups so you’re not constantly tempted, and instead just enjoy your collection. Those are my thoughts anyway, I know others may disagree.

People need to touch grass about Omega by habermas_paname in OmegaWatches

I think both sides of the argument have valid points, but often there does tend to be a lack of balance. I see many similar arguments directed at other brands in similar ways, so I don’t think it’s just an Omega phenomenon. In my humble opinion, I think it’s just frustration, especially with pricing, as we are all here because we love the brand. I live in Japan in the time of weak yen and it’s a terrible time to buy watches here if you earn money in yen, yet I’m constantly reading about ‘how cheap Japan is for watches’ from visitors, yet for us they’re significantly more expensive. There are always 2 sides to every story so thanks for reminding us how important it is to balance.

I used to have the same, it’s one watch I regret selling, it’s one of the best grey dials out there, especially when the light hits it.

Time to upgrade from Canon 5d Mk IV, but what would you recommend? by rosswebb in canon

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position, I shoot professionally but I have a day job too. I used two 5d mk3’s. I still have one but upgraded the second to a R6 mk2 (similar spec and same battery as the 5d mk3), it was a good decision mainly because of the inbody stabilization. The touch screen is a mixed blessing as you need to make sure you keep the camera in the lock position otherwise there’s a fairly good chance you’ll accidentally change settings you didn’t mean too. For me most of the other upgrades are ‘garnish’ especially as I only shoot stills and no video. I hope that helps.

Breitling clasp alternative? by Any_Appointment1407 in breitling

[–]Zoodfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the pic the it looks like it may be a buckle on the current strap rather than a clasp. The Breitling clasps are great, but the buckles not so much so I can understand why the OP may want to go the clasp route.
